It turns out the local agents have been valuing houses very cautiously, so it looks like we're not going to get enough for our current house to be able to buy the new one.
We're still going to go through the process just in case our house holds its value for some reason, but odds aren't great. Oh well. There are still a couple of cheaper houses that haven't yet been built so once those are open for viewing we may decide that those are acceptable too. There are certainly a couple in more desirable plots, so that's a positive.

In news he has learnt to make new noises that don't have a name to allow me to describe them to you! You know when you rub your finger over your lips to make a wibble-wibble sound? That. He's also almost, almost cut tooth number eight so there is a light a the end of the tunnel. Phew! Then we can just wait until the next tunnel. I'm currently not feeling too dreadful after only being woken at 2 and 4, then up at 6. That's a good night these days so I'll take it!

wobble, wibble, woble, and woeble are all used words in my family, and are used to describe both the relevant sounds, and also specific in joke family meanings, whichever is appropriate

These reminders are really great, because for me they reflect a time so long ago; but so wonderful to look back on. I promise you Vip that you WILL look back on them with fondness - if you can stay awake long enough.

I'm sure I will scorp, one day! Not this morning though. I didn't get more than two hours unbroken sleep at any point, and I ended up sharing my single bed with after 4:30. Oh well, this too shall pass, this too shall pass...
I'm looking forward to today though. It's the monthly sling meet, where a group of us who enjoy carrying our babies in slings get together. It's also a sling library, where you can borrow a sling for a month to try it out before you spend lots of money on one, only to discover it doesn't suit you. I've borrowed a buckle carrier ( I liked it but Luke didn't) a wrap (just as fiddly as my rucksack, so why have both) and I'm hoping to try out a Mai Tie this month if I can.

Well, that was an interesting day. decided that other babies squealing was the scariest thing in the world and so spent almost my whole lunch date with friends comforting a sobbing, screaming baby. He's done this before but never quite to this degree. I think the overload of milestones that he's been issuing through recently is making him a bit more nervous.
The new sling us good though. It means I can carry against my chest which is heart if he's going to continue needing more hugs. Poor kid.
I like the idea of riding a penny farthing! I am not exactly good at balancing so it might be a bit lethal!

Is the new sling the mai tai? I wanted one of those, but a bit much in addition to the woven wrap we already had.
I confess I wanted one mainly because most of the designs I came across were really cool.
Plus I thought it would be a bit easier to get the kid in and out of.

Yes, it's a Mai tai. I already own a rucksack so decided against a wrap as they have he same kind of function. The Mai tai is the sort of thing to have under your pushchair for when is awake and doesn't wanna be strapped in, or for medium length hops. It is denitely easier and quicker than a wrap.
I wa mostly surprised how comfy it still is to have him on my front, actually. After three days I've already used it more that in the previous months when I borrowed a wrap and a buckle carrier.
Given the apparent onset of separation anxiety I think this will be a hit for a couple of weeks.
