I have bought pet treats and cat toys. The favorites, judging from time spent with, seem to be the box from something entirely different and the green olive I just dropped while making potato salad for dinner, tonight.
It took three cats to give it a thorough inspection, sniffing it several times, conferring, attempting to bat it, and then deciding to either ignore it or save it for dessert.
I'm not sure which because they didn't submit a written report on their departure from the kitchen in search of something more interesting. I left the James Bond marathon on for them in the other room.

we once got our cats something called catnip tea
which comes in a sort of teabag shape with a long string attached
they became very attached to these and hid them in there beds so no-one else could get close

I've had a cat snitch the plastic bag of peppermint out of the spice cabinet. Then they chewed or tore the bag and ate some of the peppermint leaves leaving a trail behind them.

These don't do fruit.
Socks will pounce for lettuce. They also eat peas, green beans and broccoli.

I usually leave the history channel on for them. It seems to keep them company and doesn't wind them up. SyFy is ok. Something with a lot of loud music or loud commercials makes them agitated. Bond movies have music but the volume of the music or commercials on SyFy isn't ten times the volume of the program.
The history channel was showing a Swamp People marathon. I can't sit through that. When I want to hear people that sound like that, I visit my family.

When I hear the expression "Swamp People," I think of the film "Swamp Thing," which had Adrienne Barbeau in it. I don't mind thinking about Ms Barbeau .

Sadly, no. I meant the 'choot em!' Swamp People. http://www.history.com/shows/swamp-people
My family do not live in the swamps. I have a cousin who (last I heard) was working out the inheritance on a house that was literally 'on the bayou'. I've been to the house. Literally walk out back door about ten feet and you are on the bank of the bayou. He's retired now and has a small business. No idea if he still hunts and fishes like he did years ago.
