Tango - Hoovooloo Paradox
OwlofDoom Posted May 21, 2003
Morning, you bickering lot!
I'd just like to point out that the <./>HouseRules</.> make a distinction between under-16s and adults in saying that they must get their parents' permission to participate in the site. No doubt this distinction also affects some community-editorial decisions too.
Now, I'll go back to telling you all to SHUT UP!

Sorry to interject, but which blithering idiot chose "Share and enjoy" as the slogan for the DNA hub?

OwlofDoom Posted May 21, 2003
Moreover, when since did http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ take you to h2g2 instead of the hub?

Mark and his sense of whimsy, for a guess- "Sahre and Enjoy" was the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation's slogan.

Mr Moxon, a great guy. You should be thankful they no longer ban people for saying things like that.

If it was the man with *the* beard then I can appreciate the irony behind the original intent. How appropriate, under the circumstances

I haven't ignored them, I have read them.
But I have made it abundantly clear what I expect - EITHER a link to the lies I'm supposed to have told, OR a retraction and an apology for the defamation, in the PR and Quality Control thread where the initial defamatory post took place. Tango's very next post could be one of those two things, and this dispute would stop instantly, and this has been the case since the first.
It is Tango's failure to provide either corroboration of his allegation or an apology for it which is perpetuating this.
Any other so-called "attempts at reconciliation" are merely distractions.
I also feel strongly that since the h2g2 Editors consider Tango a child not capable of taking responsibility for himself, it should therefore surely fall to THEM, as both adults and operators of this site, to control him and his behaviour here.
It should certainly not fall to me to tolerate his unacceptable irresponsibility, merely because I had the misfortune to be in a dispute with another unruly child with whom he is friends.

A long time ago, I made a suggestion that there should be a special group of researchers - the Underlines.

On the basis of recent events, I'm tempted to conclude that Tango and spook are Underlines...

Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences Posted May 21, 2003
I didn't mean your exact age- perhaps I should have said "whose youth shows through his writing style".
Since you as however, by my reckoning, taking into account your attitudes, writing style and online personality, I'd say you're 15-16.

Based on the evidence that you did your French Oral exam earlier on this week - you're in the same year as Caper Plip, and I would say, probably the same age.
How did the English Literature exam go this morning?
Stay ,

Oh, damn- that should have been "Since you ask, however".
I didn't look at your journal, by the way. I think this is the first of your journal entries I've ever read.

hoovooloo: "Which is, is it not, precisely what I did? And you correctly imply that I did so because I had (note tense) a degree of respect for Tango. If I regarded him as an illiterate immature cretin who is a waste of the oxygen he sucks up with his every worthless breath, I'd probably have just posted something along the lines of "Constructive and mature as I have come to expect from you Tango, you certainly don't disappoint.", and left it at that."
that is from post 233 of this thread. notice the meaning behind the sarcastic line "Constructive and mature as I have come to expect from you Tango, you certainly don't disappoint"?

that link takes you to post 383 of the Peer Review and Quality Control thread. post made by hoovooloo in reply to me. i quote:
"I have said nothing about you which is not demonstrable fact"
"Constructive and mature as I have come to expect from you, spook. You certainly don't disappoint."
therefore hoovooloo, please prove that i am a "illiterate immature cretin who is a waste of the oxygen he sucks up with his every worthless breath" now.
if you cannot, then you have insulted me and lied about me at the same time. go on, prove it. i'm waiting.

spook, the first point you frequently show yourself to be, quite frankly.
Oh dear, are we in danger of approaching the sort of discussion known in th e civil service as "frank, bordering on direct"?
