Look with a sis-in-lawe who is a trainee midwife how on earth can they tell it is halway through labour? These things are not quite that well regulated.
Maybe this was just midwife talk to keep EV conscious or somewat.

Just saw the news on EV's journal.
Congratulations on the arrival of Jennifer Grace. Hope it wasn't too painful- nearly 9 lbs, ouch! - and hope you managed to squeeze EV's hand the whoooooooole time!
