Thras: Do you think perhaps that he's trying to tell us something?
JJ: I dunno. I think he might be mad that I tried to kick his manly bits in the war thread.
Thras: Ah... You may be right. But why does he want his boa constrictor to eat /me/? You're the one that ricked him off, after all.
JJ: And while this is true, darling, you are but an extension of my inner being.
Thras: So I am. I forget that on occasion, as I am gud and you are bad. And stuff.
JJ: True enough...

I don't want anything to eat anybody. Apologies for misunderstandings, etc. BTW, who are Harley Quin and the Joker? Knowing you, I'm guessing they're anime. Ne?

Jade (Like a lithium flower just about to bloom... She's incredible math.) and Thras (the token dragon dæmon) Posted Oct 16, 2002
Ie (no) , actually they're not. That was simply a pop-culture reference.
have you ever seen the animated cartoon of Batman? You should check it out. See, there's the Joker, ya? And then he has this assistant chic named Harley Quinn, who is horribly cute and deadly and a great big spazz. Which I think I am. Mostly.
Anyway! Go look it up on google or something. You'll laugh, I'm sure. Actually I'm surprised you didn't know what I was on about in the first plave. You seem the type to watch cartoons, Legionsy.

Mr. Legion Posted Oct 16, 2002
Of course I've seen Batman. I was just feeling a little dull at the time of reply. Joker, yeah, I could go for that. I've been told that I can't smile with my teeth without looking like a psychopath. And you'd be Harley Quin?
Joy, gazam. (Quote from one of my favourite cartoons. Kudos if you get it
).
I seem the type to watch cartoons? Guilty, as charged. But not for a while now, alas. I think I lost my faith after they stopped showing Earthworm Jim
Those vicious network nazis killed him...

My personal fav. that they killed off was Reboot. You know, the one about the little sprites that live in your computer and run the games?
That cartoon was so beyond sweet...
I don't recognise that saying. Huh. What is it from, then?

Mr. Legion Posted Oct 17, 2002
Reboot was great all right. The best character was the irritating little TV on legs.
That saying is from 'Pinky & the Brain'. Ever heard of it? It started off as a short on Animaniacs, then they deservedly got their own show. 'What are we going to do tomorrow night, Brain?'
'Same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world!'
Joy, gazam, was something Pinky - the idiot - would say when something nice had happened.

If I might just poke my head round the door at this juncture to say The Tick (circa mid-90's) ruled. (From the theme music - "da dweeb dat dat da dweeb doe" - to the hedge-Ninjas, The Tick was classic toonage.
I thank you.

Clive..>! What are you doing in here..? I'm naked..!
*watches them blink for a moment*
...... Just kidding.
Anwyay, yes, the Tick was great. Was anyone a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? My favourite was Donatello. (The purple tech geek. ...And now I'm dating a tech geek... Woah. Does this mean I have a geek fetish? )

Mr. Legion Posted Oct 18, 2002
I watched the Turtles all the time, it was (scary thought) probably one of the formative things of my early childhood. And, sad to say, Donatello was my favourite too. What does this say about us? Myself and a few friends, who share the same wasted youth, were trying to remember the entire theme song from it a couple of days ago, but could only get snippets. "Raphael is cool but rude / Michelangelo is a paaaarty duuuuude..." etc.
The Tick was another great, offbeat cartoon. Wasn't there a character in that, maybe the sidekick, whose power was that he dressed like a moth? Hmmm.
That's going to bug me all day. No pun intended.
Hmmm.

Clive the flying ostrich: Amateur Polymath | Chief Heretic. Posted Oct 18, 2002
moving swiftly on....
Now see for me Donatello had one big flaw and it was this:
Leonardo - huge knock-off sword, Raphael - Sai daggers - whoa!, Michaelangelo - Nunchuks - Thery're like banned in the U.K, = dangerous.
Donatello. Had a stick. Lacks hero credability, I'm sorry.

Mr. Legion Posted Oct 18, 2002
How can you say that about Donny? He was a *killer* with that...stick. Although, of course, no-one ever died
Anyway, he was the brains of the group. So
There was a toy on sale recently, a plastic folding-out samurai stick-thing. It was advertised with the whole ninja motif, and the express purpose of it seemed to be for hitting other little boys. Not popular with parents, I'm sure.
The best thing was, it was advertised under the slogan: 'Use your power...wisely' The unspoken message being that if you poke someone's eye out with it, Mattel will be facing a lawsuit...
Next Christmas - plastic nunchucks. For decorative purposes only, of course

Wasn't the name changed to 'Teenage Mutant *Hero* Turtles' at some point? My memories are confused... (Possibly from that whole 'banging-it-on-the-monitor' thing...)

I dun remember the hero thing...
*sipping a ramune through a straw thoughtfully*
That dun mean it didn't happen tho. And hey Clive, /dude/, how can you say that Don wasn't a total pimp? 'Cos he was, and as Legion said, he kicked some major bum with that staff of his.
Oh hey, have either of you ever seen "Chip and Dale-Rescue Rangers" en france'? Oh my gods, it's a kick... Especially the theme song.
*singing* ...ti-ti-ti-tick et tack, range du risque...

Here I am, never fret, Legion is here.
The reason my mind was on cartoons on Friday was that we had just been watching Spiderman (the cartoon, duh) in German class. The theme to it was pretty surreal: "Spinne Man, Spinne Man, macht was so ueber..." etc. That's probably wrong, btw. I like German, 'cause so much of English is blatantly ripped off from it. For example, would you like to guess what 'Ananas' means?

Okay, 'Ananas' was a trick question which you *totally* mucked up The appropriate answer would have been 'Bananas', of course.
To which I would have replied: 'Aha, no! It means Pineapples!'
Bah. Well, it would have been nice.
