Have you considered getting a sharp stick to poke J with? He certainly deserves it for being such an unhelpful .

I'll even sharpen it for you
Sometimes you just have to drop that brave face and let it all go. It's sad, but having a good cry in front of one of the professionals may well do a lot of good all round.
I was having a bit of a bad time myself but my h.v. has been absolutely superb. She's been really sympathetic and extremely supportive, which really does make all the difference. Jenny's still really colicky and the baby oil I've been using to massage her tummy has given her a rash but I take a deep breath and if I have to walk away, I do. It's bloody hard to walk away from a crying baby but sometimes you just have to. Spud knows you love him though and won't hold this against you - he's too wee to understand all that anyway

Kelli, my #1 Gruesome had reflux too. And she was a little round baby, absloutely no question that she was putting on the weight nicely.
I don't want to give you a scare, every baby is different. #1 got Bronchitis when she was small (around 5 months) as a result from having milk (or reflux) in her lungs. She still gets regular attacks of Bronchitis when the weather turns cold and wet. Maybe you could ask your or HV about this possibility?
Don't worry about the pushchair - it is only money. And I'm really glad to hear you're getting out and about for Kelli-stuff. Have a good if you want - it always seems to help for some reason. More if you have an audience.

Thanks you all for the support. I might not have been posting much here but have been reading and you've all really helped.
I hope that things might be a bit easier this week, we finally got seen by a paediatrician and given some meds which seem to be helping. He had his first dose last night and today it was like I had a totally different baby. He actually played with his toys - he's never been able to do that before. He is still going to be a demanding baby, but I can cope with having to keep him occupied the whole time if he isn't screaming.
We eventually got seen because I went to the GP yesterday and burst into tears and said I was worried about him being in pain all the time and that I couldn't cope. Was seen by the specialist in the afternoon and he prescribed a proton pump inhibitor. I'm really angry that they just dismissed what I was saying for all those weeks because I appeared to be holding together, and it took me to get right to the end of my rope before they helped me. My son was unnecessarily in pain for weeks because they were dismissing me as a neurotic first time mum. It is almost unbearable to know I could have got help for him sooner by being more pushy and/or not trying so hard to cope. I should have fallen apart sooner.
Will let you all know if things keep getting better - he was a joy to spend time with today although still cried a bit it wasn't the same and usually meant something (like he needed to be changed or played with or cuddled) rather than just pained wailing.
Fingers crossed he will keep improving.

I am so glad, that Spud got medicine, that it helped so quickly, and that you got to enjoy time with him.
And I agree with you - I HATE it that health professionals only pull out the big guns when you go in their office. I hate the way the stiff-upper-lipped basically get stiffed by the system.

oh Kelli, that's a great relief.
and at the people who didn't take you seriously. I hope you told them that.

I'm really glad for you, and for the baby. You've gone through a hard time when you should have been happy.

What everybody has said.
Don't go blaming yourself now, though. Enjoy, and be proud you've done something really worth while.

Same from me. I'm so glad. Do keep it in reserve to do again if necessary. Don't do any housework for a week so that you can play with the baby.

Hi Kelli, I'm glad to hear that Spud is getting some relief -- and so are you.
How are you doing a couple of days on -- have you both been able to unwind a little? I hope it makes you feel better to know that you have a huge cheering section out here, for all three of you!

Wow I'm so pleased that you've managed to get to see someone about this. It's even better news that it's working and you can enjoy time together without worrying yourself that he's not all ok.

Hi Teuchter, thanks for dropping by!
Things are definitely getting better with spud, we get to play more often and have had some very cute giggles out of him. He is still a tricky little tinker who doesn't like to sleep and is very grumpy when he is tired but this is so much better than before! For the past few nights he has only woken up once in the night from about 3 until 4.30, and although this doesn't sound good is a massive improvement on the 12, 3, and 5am wakings we had up until saturday night. I almost feel human again!
He is still growning at a rate of knots, about 17lb now! He had terrible constipation for a while, a side effect of the gaviscon. Poor little man had an awful time of it but I've cut that back now and he is now achieving throughput
J still isn't that keen on him, although he has bought a book of nursery rhyme music for his piano so that is something nice they do together. I think things are set to improve soon...I hope!
