*Last* year, I managed to get distracted... Of course, since the distraction consisted of me getting into a huge fight with a friend and nearly losing him, maybe being 's a bit better...

It can take between 2 and 10 years to get over losing someone close amy..so you take your time and be sad if you want to. There's a new life to look forward to that might help heal the wounds

Yes, there's a new life coming, and in a way it helps, but in another... Mom would have been a wonderful grandma! And she would have loved h2g2 (assuming she had a computer by now...)

I lost a young (19 years old) cousin
in 1975, and the grief lasted quite a few
years. But oddly enough, when my grandmother
died two years later, I managed quite well.
She was 93, and we had spent many years
preparing ourselves for losing her. I still
dream about her occasionally. It's very
comforting to be able to remember somebody
after so many years.

I guess surprise deaths can be quite hard
to take.
