No, no... I really have no problem at all making decisions.
Honest.
I can make a decision any time I want to, you know.
I just don't happen to *want* to right now.

elwood Posted May 22, 2004
I can live with that decision!
Well there is another kiddie swim class in a couple hours so I better get some shuteye!

Of course not!!
I've already explained, I seem to be the only life guard!
Unless you agree to take your daily swim in Michigan on Saturdays!

I don't normally try to swim on the weekends, but it was so hot yesterday that Shorty wanted to go swimming and I'd been told that the pool is not generally too crowded early on Suday afternoons because of check-out/check-in times at the motel where the pool is located, so off we went.
Can you believe it? She had the nerve to complain that the water was too cold!
I kept telling her she needed to keep moving to warm herself up, but she preferred to stand there shivering instead.
For the record, the water was 78F, which isn't bad for May.
I don't think I'll take you up on your offer to swim in Michigan on Sadays though - The water's plenty cold enough here, and I'm no lifeguard, that's for sure!

Backstroke, crawl, doggie paddle...?
Have you any Memorial Day weekend plans? Elwoodina and I will be seeing "Lion King" Saturday, but that was my Christmas gift (having to wait 6 months is a jip) Sunday there is a family picnic at her brothers lake cottage. So Monday is free for my family. We usually go to the my wife's small town parade and service in the morning.
Hope everyone one has a safe weekend, especially our troops overseas.

We're driving to Ohio tomorrow. The next day is my niece's graduation party. We'll be there for a week. Hopefully it won't rain!
Have fun seeing "Lion King"! That sounds very cool!

Crawl, please!
I really don't have any plans for the big weekend...

*begins to crawl around on the floor*
Oh That wasn't an order was it.
Yes "Lion King" was a spectacularly inventive visual show. The mix of puppetry and live actors was very cool. Some of the scenes added to the second act seemed unnecesary and made the show overly long. But a great time was had by all.
Hope your trip went well Shea. And hope your crawl also went well LScott.

Oooooh, just exactly what we need to spruce the place up a bit!
*dripping s all around*
What? Can I help it if I just got out of the pool when you made that suggestion?

A fan club coma has to be better than this!
Well besides all the mushiness it's good to have visitors. A hardy welcome to you both!
How has your summer been going LScott? and your winter SMoB? Do you actually get winter? Or is it just a long Autumn?
All my planned vacations are now over. Vegas done. In-law trip done. Now Little ellie keeps asking to go to Disneyworld. Is 4 years old too young for that, even though she is a very mature 4 years old, she seems 4 and a half!

Summer is going about like summer.
I have quite the tan this year... I tan extremely easily, and since I swim over an hour daily, I seem to come home darker every day.
Never been to Disney world myself, so I wouldn't know if age 4 was old enough to really enjoy it or not.

Tan? Whassat? Oh, I guess you have to spend some time outdoors for something like that
I can honestly say that right now I am the least tan I have ever been in my entire life. We've spent so much time indoors redoing the house and unpacking that I didn't realise I'm missing my summer!
Disney is, of course, for kids. I'm sure there are plenty of things geared specifically for younger ones. BUT-
Given the enormously large bank account that Disney has garnered, it costs the average family a year's savings (at least) to make the trip, or to make it worthwhile at any rate. This makes it near to a once in a lifetime trip for most. If you don't have plans to go again in the next ten years I would wait.
I was ten or eleven when I went, old enough to ride more of the rides, hold the memories longer, take my own pictures of the trip, and appreciate that this was something that not everyone gets to do. I don't remember everything about it (granted it was a one-time trip to LA, we also went to Knottsberry Farm and Sea World all in the same week so things get tossed in together). But I remember a lot more of it than I would if we had gone when I was much younger.
I think she'll appreciate it more in 5 or 6 years, plus you'll have that much more time to save up the money to make it a really worthwhile trip.
Is she 3 or 4 now? She doesn't start school this fall yet, does she?

The tan isn't something that I've been "working" on, like so many people I see at the pool.
I tried putting on sunblock (SPF 45), but even the supposedly waterproof stuff comes off in the water.
I thought about jumping out of the water every 5 minutes to reapply it, but that would mean I'd be out in the sun twice as long.
So... Since I don't generally burn anyway, I just go a little later in the afternoon if at all possible. Some of the little kids who can't seem to see the fat lady swimming laps right in front of them before they jump in anyway have usually gone home by then, so it works out better that way.
I've heard that there are certain parts of Disneyworld which are decidedly adult oriented.

'adult oriented'!!!
Wow! Disneyworld has changed since I was last there in the late 80s!
I never tan. I go right to 3rd degree burn!<---see burned just talking about it.
broe I think I took that same trip with my family. Disneyland, Knottsberry Farm and Sea World. We were there in '76, did I see you?
Little ellie is 4. We love Disney stuff so much we hope to take her there now then again at 10 and at 15 to get complete different experiences. Of course it will be instead of saving for her college education, but that's a good trade. Don't ya think?

broelan Posted Jul 21, 2004
So she'll be attending Mickey Mouse U. eh?
Go for it! I would have loved to go when I was younger, but was glad I got to go when I did.
Missed you in '76... by a few years . If I remember correctly we went in '82. And of all the fun we had on that trip the thing I remember most is that we didn't go to Magic Mountain because "we have a Six Flags at home, you don't want to go there!" I also wanted to see the San Diego Zoo, but my aunt swore the St Louis one was better and wouldn't let us waste a day there. (In retrospect I wholeheartedly agree with her, and I've never set foot in the San Diego Zoo. Our zoo really spoils you for anything else. I should finish that guide entry I started on ages ago...)
