Yep, something like that. smiley - winkeyesmiley - smiley

Yes, RE. I'm not doing Philosophy because they're not doing a Philosophy course... smiley - sadface Nor are any other colleges anywhere near... smiley - sadfacesmiley - blue I just have to make do with RE.

Aw heck, that's bad. smiley - sadface They do a Philosophy course here. But even this course has some overlap with religious issues...

What? No, don't be ridiculous. smiley - ermsmiley - winkeye

Tell me if you think up a plausible one! smiley - winkeyesmiley - biggrin

Well, yes, a lot of philosophy has stuff to do with religion. The question over the existance of a god is a prime example of that... smiley - winkeye

It's just that you seem to get the upper hand sometimes in most forums. I'll get my own back, believe me! smiley - winkeye

Will do! This could take some time though... smiley - winkeye

So I go AWOL for a week, come back to my homespace, and collide with a conversation half as long as the Guide itself. Maybe I was away too long- I guess I'm just not quite as involved in H2G2 as you guys are.

But never mind! I'm back!

And the things that did leap out at me as I skimmed through the mountain of text was Ms. Ming's escapades- designing parts of fighter planes, taking five AS- levels (Does that include General Studies?), and, of course, the novel writing. How you find time for it all i do not know. You know what, I think the only reason why I do almost all the same things as you is that you do everything!!! And wait- you're doing something in engineering? Guess what- I want to be an electrical engineer. Arrgh! You're my twin!

Prof. Tonks, the idea that you've got a website dedicated to your novel is impressive, to say the least. It's getting late right now, but I will read all about it at some stage. Gordon Bennet, though, I don't even let my family read my novels, yet you've got your's international exposure?!?!?! I'm in your shadow here.

Well, that's Hotblack's entry for another week. I should have stayed dead- it takes less effort.

I'll see you next time I bother to show...

Thom

LOL! Half as long as the Guide itself indeed... you haven't seen anything yet! smiley - winkeyesmiley - biggrin

Smileys: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Smileysmiley - biggrin

Do enerything? Me? Good grief, no, I'm far too lazy for that... smiley - winkeye
And who said anything about me writing a novel? smiley - winkeye I write short stories... although admittedly I have made a start on what I hope will turn out to be a book. smiley - smiley
Argh! I have two twins!!
*grins* I never show my stories to anyone either. Except people on h2g2... smiley - winkeye

*grins again* Don't worry, the Prof is currently in Paris, and from this Sunday I'll be in a tent in Sherwood until the 11th August... so you won't come back to a lot of backlog for a while! smiley - winkeye:-

Back on track (Again, for the sake of another new subject, and I am beginning to suspect I'm the only one who bothers...)

This is more like it. I come online, and there's just one posting for me to catch up on. Don't get me wrong- I love all your words of wisdom, but when there are more words of wisdom than I can comfortably count in a lifetime, it starts getting a tad difficult to catch up...

smiley - cool Thank you! smiley - smiley

So wait... You don't write novels, but you are writing a story which you hope will turn out to be a book. Now, I may be a little unclear about the definition here, but... (smiley - winkeye)

Does that make me part of a triplet? Or is your other twin an actual twin?

A tent, eh? Give me a house anyday. And gai Paris! Fantastic city. I went there for a weekend a couple of years ago, and thanks to my Mum's organisational skills, I got to see most of the famous Parisian landmarks. But we ran around so much that I needed a holiday afterwards...

Hope you both have/ had a great time, anyway.

LOL! Ah, you get used to a lot of backlog once you've been on h2g2 for a bit. smiley - winkeye

They're always updating those smileys, you know. We recently campaigned for a D'oh smiley, and lo and behold, here it is! smiley - dohsmiley - smiley

Well, novels are usually longer than some books, but... I can see where you're coming from! smiley - winkeye

I think by second twin she means me, for various reasons. smiley - winkeye That would make us twins/triplets, Hotblack! smiley - winkeye

You're right: Paris is great! I got back a few days ago but somehow lost this conversation. I was going to write about what I did there, but now I'll just settle for uploading a few funny photos taken of myself in a drunken state. smiley - winkeye

JCDenton

Hello everyone. It's me again. The internet messed up for a long time and I've only just got it back, so that's where I've been.

Novel writers, eh? You're all budding Jeffry Archers (hee hee hee sorry).

I can't believe the appallingly terribleness of the name of the new star wars film - "attack of the clones" - what's that all about? It sounds like a 1950s b-movie or something.

Well, that's about all i can think of saying.

Except...

goodbye.

Damn connection... *frowns*

I am not going to comment on this matter. smiley - winkeye

Ooh, there's a new Star Wars out is there? Is this when the really annoying hype hits the headlines? smiley - winkeye And we're informed of people queing up two days before the first showing to see it? smiley - erm Strange lot, they really are. smiley - winkeye

Well, I'm back from camping and feeling much better for coming back on h2g2. smiley - smiley

What ho, JCDenton, and welcome back! Sorry to hear about the connection. smiley - sadface

Jeffrey Archers indeed! smiley - winkeye Deary me, his situation does make me laugh - a liar all throughout his life, and now finally in jail! smiley - laugh
Of course, it isn't actually a good thing that he's in jail (taken from the perspective that no one should have to go to jail anyway), but he deserved it, methinks.

Hmm, I ought to take up guns at some stage in RL. That'll keep me up to date with my VR self! smiley - winkeye

Is that really what the new SW film's called? Goodness me... smiley - groan

New Subject (being boiled, whipped and drowned as we speak): Results

Post 74

Hotblack Desiato

I'll say one thing for J. Archer: He knows how to make life interesting. I heard he's been getting threats in prison. One time he had to defend himself with a cricket bat, and now he's hired a violent bodyguard who he pays with £5 telephone cards. smiley - biggrin But then, I read all this in the Daily Mail. Don't really know if it's credible or not.

I had to ask this: What were your GCSE results? I know Mr. Denton's, of course, but I've got to know how Prof and Ming the Merciless fared. I got seven A*s and 2 As (Geography and English lit.) Can't complain - I hate Geography anyway.

And about this Star Wars title: does "you can't judge a book by it's cover" apply to Hollywood films? I hope so, 'cos we're all going to see it eventually.

Hotblack smiley - cool

New Subject (being boiled, whipped and drowned as we speak): Results are acceptable, but vaguely disappointing

Post 75

Ming Mang

The Daily Mail? Credible, probably not... smiley - winkeye

Hey, well done!! smiley - biggrin
And how did Mr. Denton fare? smiley - smiley
I got three A*s, five As, a B and a D. smiley - smiley Almost what I wanted. smiley - smiley

Yes, I expect it does. But then I'm not really one to judge, I hardly ever go to see films... smiley - erm

/How/ may A*s??? Goodness, just look at my user page... smiley - dohsmiley - winkeye
Still, it'll get me into college, and after that GCSEs mean nothing! Bwuahahahahah!!! smiley - winkeye
Plus, my skills lie in fields not creditable to GCSE exams.

But yes, well done Hotblack! smiley - biggrin

I know someone who is going out with someone who got 10 A*s!! smiley - yikes But then she's at a private school... smiley - winkeye
But yes, once A-levels are done GCSEs mean nothing, and A-levels are rather more specialised in what you're best at. smiley - smiley

Post 79

Well, i got 4 A*s, 4 As and a B. That damn English Literature. If only i could have done World Domination Strategies instead.

Oh well.

Prof. Tonks do you play online games like Counter-Strike or Day of Defeat? If so I'll have to challenge you to a game.

Anyway...I'm getting new drum stuff!!! Hooray.

And yes, i do play the drums. I try anyway.

Hey, those are good results, JCD! Well done! smiley - smileysmiley - ok

Indeed I do play online! Unreal Tournament mostly, but Counter-Strike too. smiley - smiley

I never took up the drums. I'm very good at drumming on my desk here though, and can get quite a complicated beat going. Not drums though. smiley - winkeye
