Curiosity killed the cat...
JCDenton Posted Jun 30, 2001
Hello.
Me and thom use msn messenger - it's like ICQ but you don't get random messages from people you don't know. Well, I guess you could, but I don't. So it's basially like ICQ. Although probably not as good.
I haven't actually got a rifle of my own, my parents wouldn't allow it since I have a monkey of a 5 year old brother. I have 2 recurve bows and plenty of assorted weapons since i do martial arts. Well, ju-jitsu and ninjitsu to be precise. Thom does ju-jitsu also.
So, what is your real name?
Thom - if this interests you, my ninjitsu sensei is thinking about setting up a club (or dojo if you must) in frodsham.

Hmm. I don't appear to have perfected replying to messages. They seem to end up everywhere.

Ack! /Why/ does no one use Yahoo messenger?? Because it's cr*p, yeah I know... *sigh* it's the only messenging service my dad will let me get...
I haven't got a rifle either, we borrow them from the club. You hae bows? Cool!
*grin* Do you really want to know what my real name is?

Rob: Thanks for the whole idea about the Dodo or whatever, but one martial art is enough for me, thanks! I mean, what with jujitsu, guitar, clarinet, athletics etc. it's really starting to pile up. I know this means that you can kick my B-hind (does *rs* count as a swear word here?) but I can live with that.
Ming: Yes, you answered your own question. MSN messenger is a free download though. My dad didn't find out that I'd downloaded it for a goodcouple of months. You gotta know how to hide it, though. And yes, I for one would really like to know what your real name is. It doesn't seem right refering to you as "Ming" all the time!

Ming Mang Posted Jul 2, 2001
I /know/ MSN Messenger is a free download. So does my dad. I can't hide it because he checks all my folders and everything... *mutters* evil parent... He'd also notice me using it.
OK then. I'm Emma.

In reply to this earlier message (20):
You're right. We don't have the same exam board- ours is AQA. Any idea what these things are supposed to stand for? Oh... No, wait, it doesn't matter, I've just remembered that I really couldn't care less...
In my band there's thousands of flute players. And clarinet players. But the truth is, I'd sooner be the only one: I'm that kind of musician, always trying to get attention... you know how it is.
Our Robin here is the only Euphonist (did I spell that right?) in our band. In fact, he's possibly the only Euphonist within a twelve mile radius. That's cool.
Well... be good, to make up for me not being good myself...

Ah! Now the |M| makes sence! M... Em... Emma! Pleased to... um... know you're name (I'd say "pleased to meet you," but that wouldn't make sence).
Parents can be truely weird, can't they? I'm developing an internet phobia, actually, because if anything goes wrong, my dad's all "What did you do, Thom?" in an accusing tone of voice. I haven't dared break any ornaments for years for the same reason. I would like to give it a try, though...

*grin* The ¦M¦ - Em is actually a coincidence, but I like it anyway.
Yeah, there are loads of flautists in the orchestra. Have I said that already? I seem to remember I have, but never mind, I'll just repeat myself. There aren't that many clarinetists though... and I know what you mean about wanting to be the only one! I want to be the only second flautist, but there you go...
And Robin probably is the only one for twelve miles... the only other person I've ever heard of who plays Euphonium is someone's grandmother...!
I know what you mean! (Again!) Only my dad wouldn't just imply I'd done something, but immediately accuse me of having done something...

Ah, good day to you all!
Just thought I'd pop in here and give my greetings from one guy finishing GCSEs to two others.
And I know Ming, of course.
So, no more exams now, eh? No more AQA. *shudders* From what I hear, AQA was one of the easier boards...
Whats wrong with the other subject? ;-)
Chris Tonks Posted Jul 7, 2001
Hey there Ming!
I'm fine, thanks. You?
Bit quiet around here. Where are the other two? I must have just missed them.
The other subject was getting repetitive, and I felt it should be changed in order to freshen the conversation page with a new subject which, like this, makes little sence by itself.
Hotblack Desiato Posted Jul 14, 2001
Abandon the Great Ming? Naah. Sorry about the silence, I've spent the last week on holiday in Cornwall. No idea where Robin is, mind. Don't worry, I'll track him down...
You know what? There should be an exasperated smiley. The fact that there isn't is a shock, to say the least. I mean, yes to cakes, yes to donuts, but with no way of expressing exasperation, where does that leave us? Um... silently exasperated, I suppose... I abandon this train of thought in favour of sanity.
Nice to meet you, Prof. Tonks. An interesting list of qualifications you have there ("Muse of Infinity & Dimensional Theory," huh? Wow.)
The thought of AQA being "easy" makes my blood freeze. You scared the hell out of me with that. How could they get harder? I was close enough to nervous breakdown as it was. Please, tell me you were just winding me up with that! Of course, if what you say is true, I'll be the one laughing on results day. So long as I don't fail, of course.
Peace, etc.
Thom
Boring technical stuff that I can't even prove.
Hotblack Desiato Posted Jul 14, 2001
I've just done some reading, Prof, and I feel I have only scratched the surface of the immense web of detailed information surrounding you and your status at H2G2. I must say I'm impressed. Theories of Infinity? Wow. I mean that. We should meet, my friend, and discuss Astrophysics etc. as I have always been interested in Black Holes (gotta love how they eliminate stuff). Did you know, for example, that some have theorised that if the destructive element of a black hole, the singularity, were removed or avoided (impossible), you would be able to jump dimensions? Big league stuff. Unfortunately, I fear, this will probably bore Ming and Robin (JCDenton) into hiding, but look me up if you ever need someone else(aside from your good self) who can show people that he knows what he's talking about. I look forward to reading your theories of infinity, when they're done.
By the way, have you really done eleven GCSEs? My God. You're too smart for your own good.

P.S: Have you ever thought that maybe your giant space station/craft was actually the inspiration for the Borg Cube? I'd sue Star Trek, if I were you.
Boring technical stuff that I can't even prove.
Chris Tonks Posted Jul 14, 2001
Ah, you've returned, Mr Desiato!
Hope you had a nice stay in Cornwall.
Excellent, you're into this science stuff as well? I'd be glad to talk to you about it sometime.
Yup, I've done all those GCSEs, plus German, which isn't listed because I did it in Year 9 (lived in Switzerland, you see). So that would make it twelve. And yet, the three science exams only give me two grades, so it's still just eleven. I do note that simply having done the GCSEs doesn't mean I'm good at them.
About AQA: Well, no exams are easy, I suppose, but from what I gathered from other people, other exam boards were far more taxing on the mind than AQA. Quite scary, actually. ;-/
By the way, the smiley might do for an exasperated smiley.

Hello.
I am also alive and very corporeal (that means I am a solid object unlike a ghost, which is not).
11 GCSEs? Well nerr nerr ne nerr nerr. I only did 9. But I have a blue belt in ju-jitsu (it goes red, white, yellow, orange, green, blue/white, blue, purple, brown/white, brown, black at our club). And I do ninjitsu and am about 2 grades down from my grade in ju-jitsu. I think they should count. So in my head i have 11.
AQA = 'assessment and qualifications alliance' i think by the way.

What ho, JCDenton!
I'm not trying to show off with my GCSEs you know.
Good luck in the future with your nin- and ju-jitsu.
Yup, that's what AQA means. It's comprised of NEAB (Northern Examinations and Assessment Board) and SEG (Southern Examining Group), but AQA keeps them standard.

Yay!! Everyone came back!!
How was Cornwall?
And *grin* you can't scare me off with mere physics!
I'm getting 9.5 GCSEs if I haven't failed any...
So how goes it everyone?
