The Tenth Doctor is indeed a very good incarnation and he is better than the Ninth Doctor, but the Seventh Doctor is still the undefeated champion of them all when it comes to the best incarnation! smiley - biggrin

Here is my "expert" analysis of tonight's episode, called "New Earth," which I wrote about ten minutes ago to someone on MSN who is also a massive "Doctor Who" fan:

I thought that the appearance of the hospital, the redesigned Earth and the look of the Sisterhood was quite similar to the buildings, landscape and people of "Castrovalva," which was quite a nice touch if it was intentional. The friendship between Rose and the Doctor is going a little too close towards a romantic relationship for my liking, but then the Eighth Doctor did kiss Grace in the movie, so maybe the Doctor is just progressing more towards human feelings with each of his incarnations, but that's open for debate. I think the lifts with the disinfectant were okay, but a bit too comical for "Doctor Who" I think. Lady Cassandra was good in this episode, with some excellent dialogue throughout, and it was good to see her as an actual woman before her operations. I think Rose was very good in this episode, and she really was brilliant when possessed by Lady Cassandra, with some superb dialogue, such as the "Oh my God. I'm a chav" comment. The Sisterhood I thought could have done with an explanation for why they looked like half-human, half-cat people (cross genetic mutation perhaps?), and reminded me of the Cheetah People from "Survival," so again a great touch if it was intentional. This episode was, however, too rushed for my liking, as it was almost non-stop action from the beginning, and there wasn't the great pause in between the action to take a breath, absorb what's going on, and then get on with the action again. The Tenth Doctor definitely has characteristics similar to the Third Doctor, such as the leaping into the lift shaft moment, which is good. His anger at the treatment of the "human gineau pigs" was similar to the Third Doctor's angry response to the Sea Devils' base being hit by Navy depth charges, although I still feel he is more of a cross between the Second Doctor and the Seventh Doctor. The curing of the people with the cocktail of drugs made the experimentation irrelevant, and I think Russell T. Davies seems to think that because he's writing science-fiction, anything is possible, and he forgets that his audience is going to work out that the experimentation is irrelevant if they already have all the cures. Overall I'd give this episode 7/10.

So there we go. Sorry if it doesn't make much sense, but I was writing it really quickly on MSN. smiley - biggrin

You need to approach episodes of "Doctor Who" in an analytical and critical way in order to appreciate them fully. You can't just say "Oh, this episode was good" or "Oh, this episode was rubbish" because all episodes in any TV series have their good moments and their bad moments, and it is by picking out these moments and comparing them to the overall episode or the series as a whole that you can appreciate them more. For example, "New Earth" has it's fair share of good and bad moments, but overall the episode was good and the second season of "Doctor Who" looks very promising as a whole, so that makes this episode not too bad. smiley - biggrin

I'm 19, and I meant you're young as in you've only been a fan of "Doctor Who" for the past year, whereas I've been a fan of the series for the past seven years! smiley - biggrin

Fair enough! I was never really intrested as a child (what was i thinking..) and though my mum used to watch it she gave up at Sylvestor McCoy (Sorry CYBERHUMAN but she couldn't stand him!)

What was your mum thinking?! She missed watching the best incarnation of the Doctor! I never actually watched the original series when it was first broadcast, because I was born in 1987 and the series ended in 1989, so I would have only been two years old when it finished.
