David Tennent: What I think of the New Doctor!
U2006 Started conversation Nov 22, 2005
Those of you that know me, or have even spoken to me for five minutes, will probably know I’m a complete Doctor Who nut. That's why I was excited by the clip on children in need.
I know this might be a bit premature BUT I think the new Doctor is Amazing. I know I’ve only seen him as the Doctor for five minutes but he seems to have a certain buzz. In the words of one of my friends - "He can act!” well Yeh! He most certainly can. It's a little early to tell whether he will go down as a good doctor or a bad one, but I’ll bet on Good Doctor any day. General opinion seems to be with me on this. My first reaction to Tennent at the end of "The parting of the ways" was rather muted, but that soon disapeared, and i soon began to have faith in him. I honestly have thought for months that he was going to be great and i was proved right. I don't envy Tennent in the slightest; after all he's the guy that's got to replace Eccelston. But I think if anyone can do it he can!
Don't get me wrong I will miss Eccleston. He was an amazing Doctor, and for that we do have to be thankful, for me I think he will always be the Doctor against which all others are judged. But Tennent will bring something special and unique to the role. He's so different from Eccleston, who was very much a more soulful doctor. Which was quite tough at times. Tennent's obvious joy will bring a refreshing view to the character of the Doctor. In the words of Colin Baker - "Change my dear. And not a moment to soon."

He'll make a very good Doctor but he'll never beat the fantastic Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy)!!!

I respect the fact that you like the Ninth Doctor the best. It's your opinion. But I hope you respect the fact that I think that the Seventh Doctor is the best and none of the Doctors, past, present or future, can ever match up to him. That's just my opinion. We all have respect each other's opinions.

"I like 'The Doctor' especially when he is forgotten he has regenerated again. "

The eighth, didn't he always forget who he was? Surely he'd forget about regeneration as well then!

The Eighth Doctor forgot who he was AFTER he had regenerated, but there was no mention of him forgetting that he had regenerated.

The Eighth Doctor forgot who he was WAY AFTER he had regenerated, but there was no mention of him forgetting that he had regenerated.

Thanks for the advice, I will take it on board for the future!
For those of you who may not already know, in the "Doctor Who" special broadcast on Christmas Day, the newly-regenerated Doctor spends more or less the entire story confined to a bed as a result of the after-effects of his latest regeneration. Also, he spends the whole time wearing a dressing gown, and it won't be until the new series officially begins early next year that he changes his clothes to the pin-stripe suit, smart trousers, trainers and knee-length overcoat.
I think the clothes that the Tenth Doctor will be wearing in the new series are much better and much more suited to his overall character than the clothes that the Ninth Doctor wore, i.e. the black leather jacket, the dark jumper, the black leather trousers and the black boots.
