Here's an idea from the small Norwegian town Rjukan. It is surrounded by steep mountains so while it may have midnight sun in the summer the city center never saw the sun during winter.

Every Monday make a rabbit-repelling concoction of garlic powder, chili powder, dishwashing liquid and water. I mix it in a watering can and pour it over the plants I don't want the critters to eat.
