In an all-night Japanese laundromat with Woody Allen

I must have been away from home [though I must have been staying somewhere nearby, for there was nearby ferry to take me to my seaside cottage]. I had four or five bags of laundry to wash. There was one tall building next to a large parking lot, where I must have parked my car.

The only Laundromat in the area was the Japanese one on the top of the tall building. The view was spectacular, but figuring out how to work the machines was a nightmare. There were few actual instructions. Instead, there were numerous red branches running up and down the sides of the washers. They must have indicated something, but I had no clue what they meant.

I wanted to at least do some trial and error to get my clothes clean, but Woody Allen and a group of his intellectual friends were sitting at a table in the middle of the room. They were constantly trying to draw me into their discussions. They must not have been there to wash laundry, though I don't know why.

The evening wore on. The sun went down. I wasn't any closer to getting anything washed, but still the talking went on. Finally, around four or five in the morning, I grabbed my laundry bags and lugged them down the stairs and headed for the ferry. smiley - erm

Just as I passed the town square I woke up. smiley - doh

It may be weeks [if ever] before I come to grips with the meaning of that dream. By then, there may well be more to interpret. Did Freud ever explain the meaning of laundry in dreams? smiley - winkeye

If he did he probably claimed it has something to do with mothers, cleanliness, underwear and sex. Not necessarily in that order smiley - geek

Back in Freud's days his mother would be responsible for laundry being done, even if Ma Freud probably not did the laundry herself.

But I'm on a wild goose chase here and this is a long shot, so if I hit right I should probably have chosen a career as a shrink smiley - laugh

Paul here are some interpretations from online dream dictionaries with added input from myself:

To dream that you are at a launderette represents personal transformation, change or spiritual/mental cleansing. You are ready to rid yourself of the things that hurt you from the past or from old ways and beliefs and ways of seeing things. It is time for new changes and new beginnings.

Laundries on top of fall buildings symbolise your self awareness that you are going through changes in your life, inner transformation, and Woody Allen and his intellectual friends reflect your creative and your philosophical side of your personality which likes to discuss the deeper meaning of life. Woody Allen is not only a writer but a director and this symbolises the role of teacher, guru and the one who comes to help you find the direction and path that you need to take to find your special role. Not being able to get your laundry done means that the many inner discussions that you are having to dramatically change the course of life and use your creative/intellectual abilities to change your self-awareness, and could be part of the physical, metaphorical, spiritual and mental ascension that is happening through out the world where people are starting to see that they are not separate from each other and become part of a wider community which the square represents. It could also could be a metaphor for squaring the circle. The ferry symbolises the journey of life and the voyage of self discovery.

My interpretation of being in Japan is sometimes referred to the land of the rising sun and being in the East in Native American medicine wheel symbolises youth and the sun is a masculine energy and is used to measure time as in sun clock and how long the smiley - earth takes to travel the sun.

Here is a longer explanation: http://dreamhawk.com/dream-dictionary/east/

But all individual brains works to they're own rules.

Are you saying that sheep can't be individuals? If so, I pity them. smiley - sadface When I was growing up, we had a neighbor who kept sheep. The neighbor also had a tennis court, which we were permitted to use. At times it was hard to get to the court because of a ram that kept butting us away from it!
