Your father had a similar problem?
At the same time?
If so, quite probably picked up his tick bite in the same place as you got yours?
There's got to be a story here.

I've been bitten more than once. There's only a sad story here, namely how many ticks there are in an otherwise innocuous place.

Used to be something reckoned among the regular chores, here, locally, picking the ticks, usually multiple bites, off the dogs and cats.
I haven't been bitten myself since 1986 at Ft. Jackson, SC.
Then I found three empty husks hanging from the skin of my back.
They'd moulted to escape, or something.

There are tick-repellents, or so I've heard. Wearing long pants in a light hue makes the ticks show up.

...garlic, and scallions by the handful.
Brewers yeast also puts them off.
[Consumer Warning] do not take brewers yeast with a sweet dessert.
The zymase in it is still active and will induce fermentation of sugars in the digestive tract along with possible inebriation.
Stupendously good source of B vitamins, though.

That used to be a popular and traditional stand-by for dogs and cats during flea and tick season.
Dogs I'd give a teaspoonful of brewers yeast wrapped up in a little hamburger as a special treat, twice a day and before a ramble.
Cats the same, in the quarter teaspoon range, three or four per day.
Myself, I'd take four 500mg gelatine capsules to avoid the hideous flavor.
It does seem to have a repellent property.

When I was a vegetarian, I ate a fair bit of brewers yeast. Haven't touched it in years, though.

I am rarely bitten by gnats as I take garlic supplements and now again have boiled potatoes served with finely chopped raw garlic, and I also eat it with blue cheese. I have partial to marmite which is a yeast extract spread that I have on bread. It is said that brewers yeast and beer shampoo is good for your hair.
