Do you feel like ripping off a piece?

We need some newer stuff.
Do you feel up to a bit of strangeness?
Perhaps parodying the marvelous intense serious stuff you normally
amaze us with?

I'm not sure how to decipher your cryptic message but thanks for dropping by anyway. If you consider my entries a bit heavy then check out A587171.

Check out the banner on the nick name. AGG/GAG.
Was just wondering if you felt up to a bit of frivolity and I threw in a compliment while I was at it.
We're looking for some new stuff that the writer knows will not go into the Edited Guide but might find an audience under our aegis.
That was what I was being cryptic about.

With regards to your poem, I saw that last night.
That was why I troubled to bother you.
I've been rummaging around in a lot of people's back alleys and have found very little. And very few that I would think of asking.
I will in fact point that poem out to the group.

Let me get a little acquainted with this subversive-sounding splinter group: AGG/GAG, then I'll get back.

No problem.
Splinter?
A whole nine yards of 2x4, I would think!
Any questions would be cheerfully answered.

*noting with interest that I am not the only one who finds TR 'cryptic', although 'inexplicably cryptic' may often be more accurate, and 'infuriatingly cryptic' is reserved for those who know and love him.*
Delighted that Zaphod came by my homepage to demonstrate further interest in our cause. May I suggest (from hints found on Zaphod's homepage) that we offer the job desciption/title 'dreamcatcher' to our new two-headed friend.

'Dreamcatcher' sounds too woolly, passive, new-agey and effeminate, like mother's pride. What about wolf beard, dream hunter, raining hard after clear cloud or something suitably unequivocal, weathered, directive and dynamic (dynamically-directive or wet even).
I may have a contribution to No 16 or forthcoming editions. My approved entry On Madness (A597396) is awaiting in the wings, up-and-coming, being subbed and waiting for front page and all that. Ignoring the fact that many weeks have passed and the official pending has still to arrive on homepage - I wonder if just the final section on 'euphemisms for being a little crazy' might be suitably looney and interesting. I'm sure they'd be no objection (perhaps it can be cleared with editors) - in fact, the H2G2 Post helped in the appeal for contributions, ending up as a community effort. I could do a little entry if that will help.
Anyway, after long and careless consideration I think my job description/title ought to be. . . . . . . ought to be. . . . . . .something with water. . .not wetdream. . .not 'Phish'. As you were, stick with simply 'Phishri-la'
Where do I insert it?

I have liberated the above-mentioned bit and posted it on my homepage as an entry called "Zaphod's Eupemisms for Madness".
[It's wonderful how the simply re-numbered themselves automatically. I felt like Homer Simpson for several seconds, staring in amazement at the Preview. It had cut and pasted entirely and I wouldn't need to re-sequence them. Arwwww...technology...mmmm.]
Take a look A711190 and see if it meets your requirements. If the others don't object, or offer a better suggestion, I could write an intro making healthy and positive noises about the h2g2 group effort that went into the research and also politely acknowledge your upcoming official entry and state that this is a 'sneak' preview.
It could also give me a chance to introduce you as our newest member... but ...should we hold off a bit until you've contributed a bit more to our scouting and critiquing and see if you really want to be seen as an AggGagger? Y'see, some people really do think we're scary, radical, revolutionary and generally anti-establishment. One even called us a 'wooden splinter group' and nothing could be further from the truth.
We are 'right' wing fanatics about Literacy and Truth and freedom for self-expression. We are the Conservatives. We are not your typical bread and cheese and gunpowder leftists and anarchists. We remain true to the Founder and Mentor and not necessarily to the dictates of the Powers or the Beeb. We do however intend to keep working within the rules to keep the DNA-Universe from imploding.
We seek not power or fame, only justice for every fan and frood.

How about "Ghoti"? That's GBS for fish.
Don't worry about Jwf. He gets like that sometimes when the checker game is slow over by the stove. He likes to relive the days when he was the shining star down at the summer theatre.
Remember, I'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together.

George Bernard Shaw
F - gh in some words, like rough
i - o in some words, I can't remember the example
sh - ti in some words, like perdition
He was making fun of how English is hard for some speakers of other languages to learn because the same sounds can be pronounced with so many different letters. He spent some money and had some dedicated in his will to be spent on standardising spelling so the the same sounds had the same letters.

Looks OK on A711190 - though somewhat strange seeing it severed from the main piece which has been a close companion for many months now. Could you mention that it was inspired by things going astray and not recognising a spade when you see one.
Have I to earn my spurs? What d'ya want me to do? Write the equivalent of ROMANS GO HOME 100x on the front page. As mentioned, I am already a converted AggGagger and I don't know it yet. It's working it's way out from behind my customary blinkered reality in h2g2 cyberland. In the fullness of time I will clamber along the horizontal line of command, plant a beacon of impropriety and prove my worth, providing you are patient with me. I can imagine some think you're credentials are a bit dodgy but then let's face it - they are! No, what I meant was they're not ready for you. . . and, of course, they've no way of resisting the allure of AGG/GAG subversity. That could be a good carrion call "Join us on the goodship AGG/GAG. The subliminal subversity or the home of flotsam and jetsom" - though I believe there are now pills for it. (Creepy, fj - your initials in reverse).
What are the onerous responsibilities of becoming a member? Is that an inner/outer one? I have no fear of association, and I'm not averse to doing the odd bit of scouting/editing, etc. The boring fact is I'm on a training course which ends in September and my time is somewhat limited. In other words, I'll do what I can, time permitting. So what's new, eh? So go ahead introduce me if you dare, but temper yer expectations with aforementioned comments.
By the way, I am assuming AGG/GAG to be a cover for the Judian People's Popular Front.
Peace to you too.

Thanks for that TR. I'll know who you mean in future. Shame he didn't have a ghoti beard. I associated fish with photi, as in: photograph, women, and nation.
By the way, How much time do you spend trawling the bowels of the h2g2 ship to revive languishing, unnoticed material? What tips if I was to go ascouting?

When the wind is at your back and Serendipity is singing her siren song, clicking the <./>randomnormalentry</.> button will take you everywhere you want to go.
If you strike pay dirt, you'll feel it in your bones.
Then post the A-number where Deidzoeb - Herder of Nominations will see it. He collects them on a page called (for reasons lost in the mists of Time) Waitresses - A708824. Start a new thread there or add to an existing one.
Be careful to identify the A-number and don't just cut and paste the URL from the address bar because that'll still be a variant of 'randomentry'. Also click on the Researcher's name to get their U-number and check out their homepage.
And give us all some reason to believe it really is an Aggie - A691094.
For example:
"I found A439184 'Livin' on the air in Cincinnati' by Greebo Trill U153674 and proclaim my affection for its virtues. It begins as a travelog with the highest cultural ideals, expressed with a modern joyful enthusiasm. Given the wisdom of passing years, a native returns to a place and knows it for the first time. His love of this humid river valley spirals heavenward in an orgy of Tabasco treats."

I often follow the links off people's nicknames when I am trolling
'Ask h2g2'. I've been digging further and further back to see what is on the bottom layers, so I seek out old lists of friendly researchers on people's personal spaces.
And sometimes I just get bored and punch weird stuff into the search window to see what happens...

Ta 4 tips . I'll take it as part of my induction. I think I understood everything apart from TR (apostrophe)s "ask H2G2" facility.
I can see why you thought the Cincinnati entry was the genuine article. Must be some kind of mushroom growing in them there hills or maybe he's undergoing rehab. A little disconcerting, whatever. Greebo Trill said he had all the time in the world, was looking forward to engaging with others, and then promptly vanished.
Perhaps a little play on my magic button will reveal something vaguely similar. No 16's looking real sharp!

There is a list of previous questions and a long line of dots going back to the earliest ones. I just go to a question and when I see a nickname that I'm not familiar with I go to their space and look at their entries.
