minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

I think you were speaking to myself and 2legs for a while at the meet, you were the one that made me giggle and turn bright red (or so you said). I just wanted to pop in and say how nice it was to meet you.

I guess you are busy and at w*rk?

I have finally resorted to watching random TV, may try another attempt at restringing my guitar later.

well, at work yes. Busy, not so much smiley - winkeye

Just had my meeting with my manager on progress. 3 projects I work on all of which I have done everything I can and am waiting on other people to give me more work.

So sat here playing with some of them trying to learn new bits and posting on h2g2 plus reading blogs.

Overpaid and underworked me smiley - smiley

Ah, scrapheap challenge, always fun!

Are you one of those who can tune a guitar by ear? When I used to (try, badly) to play I snapped more'n a few strings overtightening them!

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

Tun it, I have to put it back together first. I took the strings off a couple of weeks ago and it fell apart, which is making new strings rather difficult. But yes once I have the strings on i can tune it to itself by ear. Right now I wish Phil were here to help me put it together. I haven't even got one string on yet!

I dunno, you muso's I reckons you make it up as you go along as I can't tell the difference - I used a funky little frequency meter to tune mine.

Although - is it a leccy or acoustic? And what exactly do you mean by 'fell apart' - I've images of the neck hitting the deck as soon as you loosened the strings.

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

Its an acoustic, and a crappy one at that. When I say it fell apart the bridge and the bit above the bridge might have fallen off a bit. Its fine, just makes life interesting. You wouldnt know if theres a pair of pliers around anywhere around? The tuning heads are knackered too. It's just my practice guitar until I get better at playing or give up. I *was* going to get myself a new one for my birthday, but it didnt happen.

Ah, I see. The bridges are only lightly glued in aren't they? Bit of gaffer tape should sort it!

It sounds like a proper guitar that of the sort that probably no one else could play.

My old electric was a bit like that. Improved it a huge amount when I dismantled it and discovered it had been wired the wrong way around hence the odd noises everytime you touched the strings and effectively earthed the guitar! And I had to take it apart as I bought it off a punk who'd sprayed it metallic purple with green stripes - mmmmmm, lovely!

off for lunch now, talk in a bit!

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

Yeah, the fact its lefthanded makes it hard for others to play. Gaffer tape! I was going to try PrittStick smiley - silly.

Enjoy your lunch. I think I may try and put a different string on, the bass string isn't co-operating.

A 2 hour lunchbreak? I have run out of strings to put on the guitar, may actually stick some prittstick under the bridge of the guitar, hmm once I have has some food!

ah, no, came back and had to pretend to work and then got distracted by an old thread I started that someone recently restarted!

Run out of strings? Had you not bought a new packet? Hmmm, prittstick won;t do much good - too weak. Try some wood glue.

Hiya.

Post 19

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

It is a whole pack of new strings yes, I Ran out as in I am done, the bass string still isnt on though as i cant get it to tighten, the rest are though. Wood glue, on a student budget? smiley - laugh Nah I will just leave it. If it falls off again i might stick it back on with something.
