I am an idot
Posted Apr 27, 2005
So as I said before, I was coming down here (Ft Lauderdale, FL) for a month to try out a job, I have decided to take the job...the reason I am an idiot is they offered me a promotion and some extra money to come down here...me being the savvy guy I am didn't take the first offer ...they asked me how much I was looking for so I just said a number that popped into my head...the reason I am an idiot is they just said ok...I should of had a larger number pop into my head...why must I be reasonable in my demands

Quick What is going on thing.

Army
Nothing much new to say except I am now one more drill away from being a fully qualified instructor. That should happen the beginning of next month. I am on stop loss so it is unclear when I will be released again but there are no trips for the military coming up except for one to PA for my two weeks this summer.
Work
Just got back into the Volunteer work at Saint Mary's and have been having lots of fun. The only problem is there is a big change in store for the next few months in my real job that will more then likely curtail my volunteer work, at least for the time being.
A job came open with my company out of Ft Lauderdale, FL
I applied for the job.
It is unclear whether or not I will get the job at this point. At first it was almost a definite but now it's up in the air due to company politics.
As it stands right now I am headed to CA next week for a class...back for a week and then that weekend to do my drill then off to FL for one month. At the end of that month in FL the hope is that I will be offered that job officially and will begin the transition down there. If not then I will be back here in CT doing my current job and my paperwork will be started for me to be come a senior tech.
I think I will just put my stuff in storage and get rid of my apartment here because even if I don't get the job down there I want to move out of my current place. That would mean if I don't get the job and I come back here that I will have to crash on my uncle's couch for a week or so, while I look for a new place. If I take the job (or I should say are offered the job and take it) then I can just fly back arrange for my stuff to be shipped to FL then get myself back down there right away. I am trying to talk my boss into letting me drive my car down there to have for that month so that I can use a day or two of vacation to stop in and see the family and possibly use a day off to get some sight seeing done . He seems to think that would be fine plus it would save them on a rental car (they would still pay me mileage for my time there and for the gas I would use for work but it still would be a lot cheaper for them) and plane tkt down. And it would give me a bit more freedom while I am down there.
The job is installing and servicing Satellite systems on ships (such as cruise ships and yachts) and things like oil rigs...lots of travel...much of it overseas...more money...and so on
What will I be doing for the month I am down there...not a clue I might be helping with their local work load or they might actually send me out somewhere from FL scary eh
Haven’t been on much in the past few months because mainly ever sense moving to the Day shift my work load has increased quite a bit and I must say….I love the fact I have more work to do…so it may be a while before I am on for another day or it may be shortly...I really don’t know

What is going on....I have no idea
Posted May 5, 2004
Alright...just a quick update
Got to go to a cool luncheon a week ago for the hospital volunteers...with fiddle playing music in the background at a country club
Found out I will be in PA for two weeks this summer...for my uncle sam...and that if I meet two conditions during that time my paperwork for my promotion to Sgt can be put in during the trip. One is a given the other isn't...will be interesting because those two conditions are also one of the big factors in my deciding whether I want to stay and teach for a while or not...oh well
Actually got to play in one tourney and two regular games...that made three weeks of rugby in a row...before work and other things got in the way yyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy
I got to ride a mechanical bull...my friend Kerry came with and she got to see my game the next day...so now it looks like we will once again be riding the mechanical bull but at two settings higher...and she also liked the game enough to say that I have to bring her to another one...even though how she describes things on the field is quite funny...you know when you guys get in your turtle formation
ok I think that's about it...unless I remember something else

1/6th of 2004 gone already
Posted Feb 21, 2004
Let’s see we now have almost a full two months of 2004 under wraps and I have started making progress. I have actually been getting to the gym every week. It's not been as much as I wanted but it is a lot better then where I was at the beginning of the year. I have lost a little of the weight I have gained sense I moved to CT and had to stop actively playing Rugby. If I can keep up my steady week to week loss I will be at that level and move beyond before toooooo much longer . While I haven’t started taking classes at UCONN as of yet I have started volunteering at St Mary's hospital in Waterbury and that has gotten me used to a schedule that would allow me to take classes maybe starting this summer. I like the volunteer work and I guess I have been doing a good job. Actually I got stopped on Friday when I went to the cafeteria for lunch by the lady that runs the volunteer department at the hospital to let me know that my services have been requested at another department in the hospital (I guess that's a good thing) and they would like to know if I would be willing to change to another department that needs help and is a bit more difficult then what I have been doing. I guess I will hear more about that in the next week or so. I have in processed at my new unit in RI. Seems like a decent posting and if things are as positive as they seem I might reenlist within the next 4 months. They are talking about sending me to PLDC (Primary Leadership Development Course) so that I may be promoted to Sgt before the year ends. It will all depend really on my next few months and the PT test in April. I have to continue to work on my weight if I wish to come in under tape (as I will never make it under the maximum weight standard in the Army I have to do what is called a tape test where they measure your neck waist and height and find a very inaccurate body fat % as long as I come in under the max there I am good but as it stands right now I am more then likely over so I will have to keep working on it hence the gym from earlier). As far as the things from my past I have tied up one of the loose ends so now I am hmmm 1/6th done and hope to be 1/3rd done by the middle of next month. My social life has been up to par as of recently. I have a new friend here in CT that I have been spending more and more time with lately. I am quite happy about that but, it has come at the cost of hanging out with some of my friends in the city. I am sure that in the next month or two I will have a couple more opportunities to hang out with them though. Money for my dream house and new car...hmmm...I would like to put a little more aside then I have been, but that will have to wait till I finish up tying up those loose ends. The last thing on my list for this year was to take some trips that I have been putting off. I know what trips I want to take, but as of yet haven’t set aside the time or the money. I am still working on it and I hope to have a better understanding of this years schedule after next drill weekend. That's about it for now...many things on the plate to get to as of yet but I got a good start on the mashed potatoes.
