That shows you got the reference. I was very heavy handed with it because of the other members of the audience. However, I happen to dislike that smiley. I did use it as one of the bad guys in my mazes though. I'm with ACE and the Patrician(?) on that sort of thing.

Oops. I shouldn't have put that all in capitals. "Ace" would be better.

Off-topic is really all there is until we get a statement from Peta (since she *is* subscribed), Symphony (ie being unbanned) or Mistdancer (who seems to have the reliable real life connection).
Another Lifetime Ban - Bigotry and Paranoia in action
SEF Posted Aug 12, 2003
Well she *has* unsubscribed (not that that prevents random spying by any italics). Significantly however, she failed to deny that Symphony is banned.

Come on SEF, it cannot be "Random Spying" I mean it is their job to look after hootoo after all.
Another Lifetime Ban - Bigotry and Paranoia in action
SEF Posted Aug 12, 2003
By random I mean picking threads to watch by other means, eg randomly checking a list of threads held off-line or the conversation lists of other people. There could be systematic spying too of the retrospective search for or the active monitoring of keywords variety.

Look SEF I have spent my life being tagged as a trouble maker, therefore I expect "Authority Figures" to look more closely at what I do, hell I am even kind of proud of it .
Those people whom get involved in controversy and the big arguments on h2g2 are likely to get their convo's watched. I am afraid that is the way the world works.

SEF... I've just realised something... re. post 186...
Peta also conveniently failed to deny that the CIA were responsible for the assasination of JFK... and that Roswell really does house a fleet of captured flying saucers!
Does that mean it's all true
Or could it be that it's just "Naw't to do with her"

Whisky, you are yet another of the many people round here who use dishonesty to attempt to discredit someone or some topic. A lot of the people around here are too stupid to spot this but I am not one of them. If you have to resort to dishonesty it demonstrates that you don't have a valid point to make but merely wish to be nasty and offensive anyway. So congratulations on achieving your goal of being dishonest and offensive but no prizes for not getting away with it (except among the very stupid crowd).
Peta is effectively the one who got LeKZ banned (the message was apparently to/about her and Mark). Symphony has been accused of being LeKZ and banned accordingly. Peta has access to the site information - dna wide and not just h2g2. It is very much to do with her (why else be subscribed in the first place) and she has had every opportunity to deny the ban. Even if she didn't personally accuse or ban Symphony or talk to the italic who did, she could still look at the site database and confirm it.

Thank you SEF, it's nice to know one's been noticed, frankly however, I have no need to attempt to discredit you...
comments like your last one do that fairly well on their own...
Another Lifetime Ban - Bigotry and Paranoia in action
SEF Posted Aug 12, 2003
Ah, then you still fail to see that it is your argument and comment which has been discredited rather than mine. That's not entirely surprising.

SEF
It seems to me quite clear that it was LeKZ who got LeKZ banned not Peta. As far as I can tell Peta was the innocent party.
I rather feel that Whisky was making an amusing aside rather than a nasty attack; perhaps you should Chill Out!

Ah, but SEF, that's where you are wrong!
**stunned silence from the lurking masses & sounds of whispering...'SEF? Wrong? Never!'**
I bow to your superior knowledge of all things related to this site and life in general... not to mention your tact, diplomacy and general bonhomie.
I fully expect no one to take anything I say seriously and beg for forgiveness to have even had the audacity to cast my eyes over your postings
I am clearly not worthy!

SEF Posted Aug 12, 2003
I never claimed to be tactful or diplomatic. I despise those things because they are dishonest too. However, I don't necessarily comment when I can choose not to comment. Your entire contribution to this thread so far has been dishonest and negative and you only just arrived (possible lurking aside). You could instead have chosen to say nothing until you had something worthwhile to say or just gone away. But instead you chose to demonstrate your dishonesty and lack of relevant information - unless doing so *was* your idea of tact and diplomacy.

"Peta is effectively the one who got LeKZ banned (the message was apparently to/about her and Mark)."
A more accurate reading would be that Peta and Mark banned LeKZ. They didn't "get her banned". It was their decision.
"Symphony has been accused of being LeKZ and banned accordingly."
Again, let's state facts. The account styled "Symphony" has (we are told by ONE source) been closed on the grounds it was being run by LeKZ.
The PERSON called Symphony, since they are NOT (we are told) LeKZ, has NOT been banned.
There is nothing to stop them opening another account, since they have broken no rules - assuming they're not LeKZ. In fact, I can't see why they haven't just cut through all this crap and just got on and done that - it would have saved a lot of pointless discussion on this thread.
"Peta has access to the site information - dna wide and not just h2g2."
Not necessarily. It's amazing how territorial people can get about information when their former boss moves on - there is no reason to suppose Peta knows any more than we do.
"It is very much to do with her"
It is not. Her responsibilities are towards development of the dna engine. h2g2 is a backwater hasbeen testbed, her focus is forward, and we are NOT the future, we are the past.
"(why else be subscribed in the first place)"
Idle interest at yet another LeKZ hoo(2)haa? Perhaps she was pointed toward this thread by someone in an MSN conversation? Possibly...
"and she has had every opportunity to deny the ban."
Now why would she do that? H2g2 is not her patch any more, and she's right, it's nothing to do with her.
" Even if she didn't personally accuse or ban Symphony or talk to the italic who did, she could still look at the site database and confirm it."
She may not be able to, and may not care to, and I wouldn't blame her.
H.

"You could instead have chosen to say nothing until you had something worthwhile to say or just gone away"
Yup, you're right, I could have chosen to say nothing... however, when I see an assumptive statement like 186 I quite enjoy taking the mickey out of it... (and it was such an easy target SEF - you really shouldn't leave yourself so open)
H has done an excellent (if slightly more conventional) job of responding to that particular posting if you'd care to read his words... but I'd bet mine was more fun to write
Another Lifetime Ban - Bigotry and Paranoia in action
SEF Posted Aug 12, 2003
At least that was a more honest response, H.
Yes, I agree that it was Peta and Mark's decision to ban LeKZ, but I couldn't assess who was most in charge and whom else may have been involved in running the site then. The most offensive content of the XXX post seemed to me to be about Peta (or her children) whereas I was under the impression that Mark was the one mainly in charge. Hence my reduction of this long description/explanation of relationships to the much simpler (but still true) idea of Peta getting LeKZ banned.
I believe that the Symphony account *is* banned. The *only* reason given so far was that it was in connection with LeKZ. Owned and operated by may appear to be different things but the HouseRules connect them. Letting a banned person use your account is grounds for being banned. Hence Symphony would then be banned as a person and not just an account (making any new account also bannable). However, the italics could have made all this clear, including any distinction between a banned account and a banned person, (here or to Symphony) if they had wanted to do so.
Peta has moved on so much that she quibbled over the precise description of the dna site statistics with Jim Lynn on another h2g2 thread. Hmm... sounds like someone with trivial access to some database information to me and who subscribes to quite a few h2g2 threads. Her current disinterest in the matter may be a feigned/studied one (for obvious personal reasons) as much as a genuine one.
Key: Complain about this post
