h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, it's update time again.

I saw the consultant today. Walking to his office across the waiting room, the nurse asked me if I was ok. I was walking diagonally, leaning to the left. My balance is shot.
Doc did a full physical, and told me he wants me in hospital. If I had £5000, I could have been admitted to the private hospital there and then. Unfortunately, I have no insurance. £5000? I turned white!

He was very nice, and said he wasn't after our money (he is a consultant, honestly ) and would admit me to the NHS hospital instead. He's going to find a bed for me next week, and admit me under his care. He wants do run all kinds of tests, including liver and kidney, and also brain scans and such, because of the dizziness and loss of balance. That's a bit scary

So after all of this waiting, and being told there was nothing wrong with me, finally something's being done. At last. I can't say I feel any better physically, but mentally, I can at least feel like I'm getting somewhere.

I'll post when I have a date for going in, and let you know.

I'm delighted your new doctor is doing something. Don't let all of the tests frighten you. Your doctor just wants as much information as possible for a diagnosis. It's a good thing. The brain scans and such are just because of your dizziness and all. He's just making sure to cover all bases rather than ordering a test, looking at it, then ordering another, etc. Sounds like he really wants to hurry and get you well.

no internet?? sounds inhumane to me...

I'm in Liverpool. And the hospital is that backwards, the phones by the beds are incoming calls only, and they cost 50p a minute to ring up.

*sends Misty a cell phone and a laptop with wireless internet*

Well, I hope you do well and nothing's seriously, seriously wrong.... Someone already suggested the ear-tests, so I don't need to. (Balance to me indicates that first stop for checking is the ears, then get more complex....)

Anyway, I have wireless high-speed net access now, so I'll send you good wireless-high-speed vibes to speed up your healing and your connectivity. (And I'll be on again regularly, as promised three months ago! Or more... um... hm.)

Thanks! I'm sure I'll be ok, in time I'm just really glad that something's finally happening. It's been a frustrating 8 weeks.

I'm slowly trying to catch up on the laundry, so I've got clean stuff to take in with me! Mr Misty is wonderful, but the washing machine defeats him!
