sun
Posted May 23, 2001
It's a beautiful day...sun is shining, a light breeze....and I am stuck in my office.
Oh well can admire it through the spider plant on my windowsill.
At least I hope it's a spider plant...could be a triffid...it's a bit big.
Pokes plant with a ruler.....no I think it is a plant .
It's nearly lunchtime. Been here since 8am will finish at 7.30ish tonight.
Daughter has just rang and said would it matter if she has failed her AS levels.
I take it the exams went badly ...oh well she can always resit or do something else.
They do far too many exams these days anyway Apparently half way through she gave up on one paper and wrote about Hitchhikers Guide...that'll amuse the examiners.
Time for lunch

Time to get out the towel and move on.
Anyone see a passing sofa ..let me know so I can jump on it.
My boss has told me I am working too hard...must be a first normally they are telling you off for skiving
Had my hair redyed pink again well more red than pink...but the thought was there, didn't take as well as hoped. .
Debating whether to get it done blue next time. Sign of my new found independence...could catch on.
will go and get drunk tonight I think ..my usual way of dealing with stuff. Stuff happens and it is not always good.

new Office
Posted May 17, 2001
well here I am in my new office.....would have preferrd a pay rise....however.
I can actually get more than two people in here without having to call for oxygen due to air loss.,
It took me ( and my assistant) three days to clean out the rubbish left by the previous occupant.
There is an old comfy chair in the corner that has been well used HMMMMM- so it is true he slept here!!
I have arranged to go out with some of my students after the exams for a drink. Should be a lot of fun. They will all hate me when they see the paper...but forgiven me by then.=
It's quite sad when students move on cos some I don't teach again and I get quite attached.
Still a new day dawns ...e mails piling up,marking pile hasn't quite reached the ceiling...but better make a start on it before it topples and decapitates the cleaner!!

death of a good man
Posted May 14, 2001
It was so sad to hear of Douglas Aams death. He was only 3 years older than me .I introduced my daughter to Hitchhikers Guide. A new generation is reading and loving the books. I hope he is hitchiking right now across the galaxy
peace be with him and his family. He taught my generation and those following about humour and seeing things in adifferent way.
God bless you wherever you are ...perhaps we'll meet in the foyer at the end of the universe......

holiday and other things
Posted Apr 24, 2001
well I am back from Scotland. What a wonderful week. It snowed,we had a log fire and several visits to whisky distilleries complete with free samples.
I brought back some bagpipes for my membership of the musicians guild.
There was a monster hunter on Loch ness from sweden (I think). He is going to trawl the Loch with a big net!
When I have time I will try and do an entry on Nessie ...I came back with several stuffed toys for friends etc. and 2 for myself.
I also brought back a bottle of 18 year old whisky....it may not last the week!
The mountains were beautiful in the snow and I have fallen in love with the Highlands....I am going back again next year.
Guess what...the porters still haven't appeared...so my telephone is in one office and my computer in another...very surreal. I can't decide which office to use.....probably stick with the computer and pretend I am not in to answer the phone.
I put together one of those flat packs of a set of drawers yesterday. My wrist still aches...60 screws later and I've still got wobbly knobs and am leaning to the side. The drawers not me......though it could be me if I drink all the whisky!
