if someone.....

could invent a cure for a broken heart they would make a fortune.smiley - sadface as it is you just have to sit it out and time will heal it eventually.
So did some retail therapy on Saturday.Nessie lent me her credit card for the stuff I couldn't afford this month. I pay her back next month when the bill comes in,so it works out quite well.smiley - magic( I only have a debit card) I have two new tops, two pairs of new trousers, a new handbag, sunglassessmiley - cool, underwear, and two pairs of new shoes, one hasn't arrived yet as I had to get them on the internet as the local shops didn't have the pair I wanted. And as my phone is dying a new mobile is on it's way. I should point out everything I bought was reduced so didn't actually come to that much..but it felt good to have some new stuffsmiley - ok
I woke up early this morning and left the back door open so the catssmiley - cat would go out and give me some peace so I could go back to bed.I woke up at about 7.30am to find a large black and white catsmiley - cat staring at mesmiley - yikes...it was Bruno from next door.I am not sure who was more startled ,me or himsmiley - laugh He soon departed when I yelled.
I have kept busy and emptied some old pots out yesterday and re-planted them.smiley - ok We ate our first home grown salad leaves on Saturday when I thinned out the lettuces.I am getting sad in my old age being excited about growing stuff smiley - rofl
So I hope everyone is having a good restful bank/may day holiday
smiley - hug to all.

here we go around the mulberry bush?

Or more exactly around every UK British Gas call centre in 60 minutessmiley - headhurts
Now I know it's Friday 13thsmiley - witch but not being superstitious(sp) thought setting up direct debits to pay my bills, whilst I have the time to sit and wait to get through to the call centres, should be straight forward.
I can confirm that British Gas seem to have lots of call centres in the UKsmiley - ok I started off I think in Southampton, after a long wait and some dreadful 80's pop music, and press 1 for blah 2 for more blah etc., to get through. Set up the electricity payment but my gas account doesn't exist. smiley - doh There was a happy birthday song going on in the background and lots of squeals, so someone's birthday.
But I have the number here and the letter with the number welcoming me to my new home and my new meter(Previously had prepayment meter which was removed and replaced with normal meter when we moved in)
ERMsmiley - erm try ringing this number they may know what to do.
Rings number....press 1 for blah 2 for more blah..you get the picture. All our assistants are busy please hold...cue terrible piano musicsmiley - ill then several interruptions of same tone ..change to flight of the bumble bee...well at least it kept me awake...after 20 minutes the repertoire ran out and the violin music returned to piano..mercifullysmiley - grovel at this point a male voice answered...scottish I think. No joy.smiley - sadfaceI was then passed on to what sounded like Sheffield. The woman there said "why have you been passed to me? Too smiley - bleep lazy to do their jobs ..I'll see what I can do."humpf.smiley - grr In the background someone was complaining about the fact that family has to come first and she'd told the boss.
Now I got some funky 70@s music on hold. Comes back.."I can't do it sorry, I might make a mess of it so I'll pass you to my colleague in another office"
More funky music...then a Welsh voice answers...Yes she can help and will ring me when it is sorted out....I have now been around the UK in 60 minutessmiley - puff
Once in the good old days you could walk into the gas office and sign there and then to have the gas put in your name and pay your bills....smiley - senior sigh
Well a tour of the country via phone from my armchairsmiley - laugh what next?
smiley - hug to all. Hope your 13th has not brought any nasty surprises.

yesterday was a good day

considering we had no electricity all day.. It had been flickering on and off all the night before ...something to do with tree branches and we were warned it would be off most of the day.....so good excuse for a trip out.smiley - magic
Went to explore Bishop Auckland. It has quite a good shopping centre.smiley - 2centsI managed the 3 hours out without having to sit down much so I am definitely feeling better.smiley - ok
Got my watch mended, got a new mug to replace my favourite that broke (Baggins knocked it off the table and then JK knocked it again when he was here, and the bottom fell offsmiley - yikes)and bought a new top in the sales.(now I just need to get some new trousers to go with itsmiley - whistle) Nessie got a pair of boots for next winter for £18smiley - cool.
We then went to a supermarket thingy and came back loaded with salad and nice bread for tea.smiley - drool
Nessie and I decided to have a go at container gardening so whilst JK was here we got him to help with carrying compost etc up to the terrace.smiley - puff
I went out yesterday and got all excitedsmiley - somersault because green shoots are appearing. Potatoes and lettuces are growing and (because I forgot to label the big pots) either lavender and rosemary or two sorts of cat mint are starting to sprout too.smiley - cool
I must be getting oldsmiley - senior when I get excited about plants smiley - laugh
Electricity came back on about 3pm so had a smiley - coffee in my new mug which has a cartoon cat on it,the image of tatty old Oedipussmiley - cat.
It was really warm to be out yesterday but it was good to be out.My feet ached this morning...not walked that far for ages smiley - laugh
So today ..who knows what today will bring? probably the electricity bill as they read the meter last weeksmiley - rofl
smiley - hug to all
