We should put a version of our answers in the FAQ don't you think Mr T? As to albums to get start with Fugazi - "13 Songs", it's the most melodic of their albums then try "In On The Killtaker" if you like that then maybe Minor Threat. You can order all this stuff off the dischord page just guess the address (it's really obvious). There should also be some info about the "scene" there.

Okay guys, let's have some input!
I've basically listed a few ideas of headings, so if you want to flesh it out, please do! Oh, and the URL's http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A528789, don't forget. Get writin'!

hooray for willem, the unmentionable marauding pillowcase!!!
btw, willem... i think it's very cool that you don't eat fast food or meat and such. i wish i had the willpower to do that, however in california we tend to be slightly hypocritical: we'll have health food for breakfast, munchies for lunch, and mcdonalds for dinner and assume we're eating healthy. at least there's an abundance of gyms and such for us to keep in shape.

I have ordered a book from Amazon for Christmas and I'm still waiting for it! Maybe its not their fault, it could be the postal system over here. Let me just see if, and when, I get that book and then I will seriously consider ordering something by Minor Threat or Fugazi. And I will really appreciate names of other bands with similar princples as well. I will be reading that F.A.Q. What I'll also do is to see if I can get songs over the internet. Just to hear what they sound like - if they sound good I will try and get the CD's. This is another one of my principles - if the band is good, buy the music, don't pirate it. But I don't like that much of the money I pay for music goes to advertisers, agents, record companies and so on while the artists get little. I would like it if artists can produce and market their own music and I wonder if the internet cannot perhaps help them do this.
I occasionally get into the city, and in the big cities down here you can usually find a lot of music that departs from the mainstream. But I'm really not a city person. I like it here in the wilderness.
Well, we're not *that* backward! We have gyms here too. I actually bodybuild - no steroids of course. It's been rather hard for me to quit the beef and chicken habit, but I have and I'm not going back. I still eat tuna - if that's wrong, then dolphins are evil - but I intend to try and quit that as well, soon, because I'm getting the hang of the vegetarian thing.

You'll love Fugazi's politics, then. They do not advertise, they own their own record label (Dischord - see the new 'Origins' section on the "Straight Edge on h2g2" page). They're very independant, and should theoretically be getting 'loadsa' money... but I don't think they do. Or at least, they don't show it.
Many of their shows are free, benefits for charity, etc - and always much cheaper than other "big" bands.

that's very admirable... i have always thought highly of those who do benefits and charity work...

I've been downloading Fugazi - one only halfway, another fully - 'Bulldog Front'. Sounds good, loud and hard, my kind of music! I also got to a website with their lyrics and I'll be looking at that. I will keep my eyes peeled, because just maybe I'll be able to find one of their CD's over here.

Keep Your Eyes Open you mean. HoHo. Oh sorry you won't get that yet. I'm glad you like them. Try and download Waiting Room and maybe Bad Mouth. Oh and Facet squared. I'd better stop now or else the list will go on and on.

The great thing about Fugazi is, you can buy any of their albums and be sure of getting a good one. I think they're all great - apart from Instrument, because I've not heard that yet.

Comrade Rumble Posted Apr 10, 2001
Yeah, I mean some of them you have to sit and listen to in order to "Get" them but they're all good on a whole load of levels. Instrument is good but not brilliant it's far too disparate to really be great. Did you see the video in Woolies for £2?

Willem Posted Apr 11, 2001
I think you can include me in the list of straight edgers now, don't you?
sXe
Comrade Rumble Posted Apr 11, 2001
Ok, explain why and there shouldn't be a problem (not that we're arbiters of straight edge or anything).
As for the pillowcase, probably you should be but we have to wait for Mr T to do it.

Target, Suggestion, Margin Walker, Bad Mouth all by Fugazi. Minor Threat, Out Of Step, Straight Edge all by Minor Threat. No Reason Why by Gorilla Biscuits. *notices sXe*.

£2?!!!!!!! I'll try and get that tomorrow when I pop in to get Dan a birthday present.
It's great that you've decided to join, Pillowcase.
I won't start listing Minor Threat and Fugazi songs, because basically I like them all, but I will also reccommend 'Hold Your Ground' by Gorilla Biscuits, because it's very good too.
Gorilla Biscuits are, however, a lot more 'hardcore' in many respects than Minor Threat or Fugazi, so if you hear them first, don't be put off the other bands!

Comrade Rumble Posted Apr 12, 2001
That all sounds straight edge but do you have a reason for this abstinence. I don't think veganism is neccesary, I'm far from it myself .

I'm not saying that these songs are best, just that they are more accessible. On the topic of Fugazi, I'm mulling over doing an entry on them and would appreciate any contributions not featuring the phrase "they're gonna bang in ya face". I don't think GB are more hc than Minor Threat. The 'threat are a great deal angrier and to an extent more violent. Whereas GB just have a fast singer.

I started making it[Fugazi entry] at A535204, it's still miles from finished but tell me what you think so far.
