Seth of Rabi
Welcome
I live in West Africa, in a mud hut in the middle of a miasmic crocodile-infested swamp with no roads, electricity or clean water. The neighbours are thieves and murderers who sell body parts for juju rituals. We eat mainly snail and pondweed.
All lies of course. Well mostly.
We do eat fish.
Fishing
At weekends we go about twenty miles off the coast or just fish the mangrove creeks if the seas too rough. Rainy season we go after barracuda, dorado, wahoo and yellowfin tuna; dry season it's jacks, spanish mackerel, sailfish and blue marlin. We tag and release the billfish (if we manage to get them to the boat!).
And fishing or not, I also do .....
Birdwatching
Can't help it really, there's so many of the little blighters. It starts of with just wanting to know the ones you see around the garden: common bulbul, laughing dove, african thrush, variable sunbird, bronze mannikin, just so as not to be a total ignoramus; and then you spot a gorgeous little bar-breasted firefinch, an african darter, a pied hornbill, dwarf bittern, palm nut vulture ..... Well it just doesn't end does it?
