I've been trying to come up with a decent back story to my Hero. I read Prof. Chaos' and I thought it was really good (can I use the word 'good' or do I risk getting pummelled?)

Haha, in that sense you can use it yes. Erm, I'll give it a think but I'm still trying to think up a backstory for my arch-nemesis Tar and Feathers Boy, I'll give ya some ideas though if I can think of them.

I've got a few ideas, I'm just stuck as to where the healing powers came from.

I'm not too sure if that would work. The story I've got so far is that the character comes from a military family. Its still a work in progress
*Has some *
It could work, I just can't figure out how

Depends what way you wanna go down, Marvel style of mutants would make it easier, DC where its acquired or inherent in you due to various things often sounds it a little more impressive.
