Not sure actually.. I know he's home for at least the next couple of weeks, if I don't strangle him..
When he was looking at how to cut the flowerbeds he actually used a string protractor to make the corners perfectly round. Today while the gardener was here he changed the corners to be more ovaled (longer on the corners, shorter near the side beds). Which was how I suggested we do it before he had to run to the store for string and nails to make them perfectly round.
We went to the nursery every day and he bought more and more plants and now he's threatening to buy even more tonight. He's supposed to be going for potting soil only but I'll bet you my killer attack chicken he comes home with more plants!
Now he's trying to find someone who will tile the backsplash in the kitchen in the next week or so because he can't wait for it to be done in July or August when we're tiling the bathrooms and laying hardwoods downstairs.

Rather meticulous and particular, is he? Most projects, I begin with a general "vision" and then work with what-ever materials and time I can towards that concept. Often, things come out pretty near to what I had in mind, sometimes, realities and limitations are cause for mid-flow changes. Which I accept, and move on ...

Not so much meticulous and particular as an engineer through and through! And yes - he not only showed up with more plants but is on his way back to the store for even more, though this time at my bidding. There is a little quarter round bed near the walkway to the front door that is begging for a little topiary rose or hibiscus tree or some other focal point. I had suggested a fountain we saw during our endless weekend yard shopping but he didn't like the idea..

In all, it's sounding like it's going to be quite a show-place, my friend.
Personal tastes, I too would go with some kind of greenery. We have quite a nice bird-bath centred on our front lawn. Shaded and very well used by several species of birds, and a couple colours of squirrels. But I've never been overly fond of "active" elements, like arrayed light-edges and water-features.

it is looking exceptionally well but.. you guessed it.. we have some plants left over that we have no idea what to do with..
the contractors are here and the kitchen is an unsightly mess - between demolition and installation..

Given a few more days, you'll probably find a place and home for the extra plants. If they don't end up as a salad, because the kitchen is a demolition zone, maybe offer them as a less-than-subtle hint to your weed-field neighbor.

*giggles* they don't take hints.. however unsubtle..
I do have to admit the yard is looking very fetching with all the colors of the foliage.. some greenery but mostly a variety of colors of coleus and ivy and such...

If not by "direct e-post" then, I do hope to be seeing pics of it in a photo-library somewhere as the summer gets on. Of course, I will NOT show milady ... I have neither the finances nor the energy to rip out everything we've got, and re-do ... Just 'cause some people out there have taste and talent.

there's no talent... that's why we have someone else doing things..

That in itself is a talent. Not just having the taste to know what would look right and good, but the talent to find the right people to do it for you.

So poor at it that even the spelling of it gets dyslexic, eh?
How's your weather been lately? We're just about to break out of a 3-day heat wave, huge temps and humidity, and loads of smog. But just moments ago, I felt the leading drops of a thunderstorm that is expected to break it. Leaving us with a few more "normal" days again.

*giggles* I didn't even notice that!
The heat broke today... we had a light dribble of rain this morning and it's been cooler, but still warm.

Oh !!! And perhaps a plush ducky perched jauntily on a shoulder? I've only ever read of such performances !!!

Ah well, I shall continue to dream then.
But on the upside, which-ever variant you did, it worked nicely. We have had on-again, off-again rains from perhaps 9'ish last night until a couple of hours ago. Our air is cleaner, temperatures have dropped from the lowest 30's (C) to more like 22 or 23.
