They're threatening snow on Sunday. But it won't stick around, because the ground will be too warm. Neighbour's been clearing out all the leaves from his yard, he wanted them off before snow. We don't have leaves in our yard - conifers are nice that way.

I've gotta go, supper's on its way. Stay warm, stay dry, sleep well.

sorry I wasn't here last night, got watching a tv program and by the time it had finished, coming out of the "warmish" front room and walked into the hallway, the temp so I got straight under the duvet

No problem. We were in a mad rush - the grandniece was in a big programme over at the high school auditorium, so we had to eat and run.

They were great.

school stuff like that can lead to an acting career ?

Half the programme was band, the other half choir.

then I back offplenty of time for her to decide on a future course, I thought she might have been older as such. I know your's and our school set up is different, you have grades etc ? where we have infants/juniors/seniors etc

Yeah, we have grades. 1st-6th is usually elementary school, unless there are 'middle schools', which are 6-8.

Junior high is 7th-9th, but sometimes, like here, senior high starts at 9th. So the kids here go to a high school that's 9th-12th. (We don't have a 13th year in the US.)

Kids in high school are freshman, sophomore, junior, senior. Then they go on to college (=uni) or vocational training, or just get a job.

is it correct ? that if a kid there, don't pass at a certain year, they have to stay at that year for another ?

Yep. There's also summer school for making up lost learning.

we don't have those, they just go through the years and leave THEN! it's a toss up if they can get a job or noteven WITH qualifications

many kids, especially up north, say why bother learning ? we're only going on the dole(unemployment set up) when we leave school anyway

Which is a shame. They shouldn't learn for others - they should learn for themselves, so nobody takes advantage or deprives them of the pleasure of knowing how.

I've gotta go, supper's coming. They're threatening a lot of snow tonight, but so far, we only had a few flakes, then it stopped. Who knows? It's getting colder, though. (And yesterday, we were out in shirtsleeves over at the shops and eating out.)
