I have since had the idea that we shoot straight up to Belfast for the 10th and 11th, and then get out of town fast for the 12th. Then take the rest of the island by storm - anti-clockwise. Which would mean finishing up in Dublin. We fly back on the Friday night, so either way, I'll really only be in Belfast or Dublin on weekdays/nights.

At the weekend, we're more likely to be in Galway or Limerick. Still all very vague, but I haven't even got myself a map yet! (It's on order)

smiley - ok I recommend Galway. But don't go walking through either alone at night.

If you like, I'll give you my phone number (it should be free for you to call), or we can Skype.

To be honest, the 10th and 11th might be about as bad as the 12th in Belfast...

I was wondering about that, KB.

Well, I'll gladly put you up for a couple of nights in leafy Lisburn, and can act as tour guide to take you to the bits you want to see, while avoiding those that you dont.

Galway's also easier for me to get to, if that's any consideration.

Happy to offer tour guiding, too - and accomodation, but you'll probably be happier at Bea's...

We could, of course, take a drive up the North Coast, and stay out of the city entirely.

OK - on the basis of those suggestions, I'll work out an itinerary at the weekend. Thank you so much for your offers of accommodation and food.

Gnomon - time to move on

I should be available to meet you for a drink in the evening any day in Dublin, and if it is Wednesday I'll be around all day so I can give you a tour around anywhere you like in the city.

Would the Botanic Gardens at Glasnevin be a nice spot to go?

They're very pleasant, like a mini-Kew Gardens. You could probably spend a nice hour or two there, depending on how interested you are in plants.

The Zen's will be visiting Ireland around this time as well... we need to be in Cork for the 14th of July. But otherwise we're free to come and join a meet.
