still here and reasonably sane... it wasn't too bad... they are both very nice girls. we took them to blockbuster to rent a dvd, they chose the pacifier, but only watched 10 mins of it before they were bored...
so they played super mario, then play station, then they played music... at 11.45pm i finally told them to settle down which they did..
so a successful sleep over except they got a bit bored. might try again... in time....

yuk i remember revising.. but it has to be done.. it is a means to an end...
when i was in college we had a weekend to complete our personal projects.. mine was centered on the use of bulls in art, beginning with cave painting and i spent a lot of time on picasso and his preoccupation with the image of the bull [obvious sexual overtones]
i turned down a trip to london to finish it... but my friends went and my best friend got to hold hands with the guy i had the hots for [ok they went int a gay bar and he wanted a girl to hold his hand...WHY WASN'T I THERE still in the end it paid off as most of them didn't finish their projects... so you see the moral??
but DAMN IT...

Designing a swimming baths, gym and sauna, room for 2000 specators and a café - quite a bit of work!

don't forget your access into the water..i prefer the gentle sloping beach type as i can walk in.. the pools with ladders can be tricky and i have cut my knee twice on it.. so consider disabled access as swimming is often used as a therapy....
maybe a hydrospa bit or a jaquzzui [wrong spelling?] anyway just a few tips you've probably thought of already.

It has 5 pools in all, some for competition, some for kids, some for learners and other classes - and I've even made it all wheelchair accessible! But thanks for the tips!

its amazing how generous you can be when designing... 5 pools.. wow. we don't have much like that over here.. i love typhoon lagoon in florida.. so well designed, recreated that tropical feel.. disney are the boys when it comes to clever design.. of course they have the weather for it..
mind you they got it wrong too.. the original disney water park, river country was a disaster to life guards because of the real river water becoming murky therefore guards could not see a potential drowning.. it has closed down in recent years.. we spoke to a brit lad life guarding out there...i suppose they couldn't risk a nasty accident...imagine the bad publicity...
anyway i'm off for the night bye......

yes and heres a top tip... makes sure water is of the clear variety and not murky pond water like disneys river country...
their idea was to recreate a tom sawyer type watering hole and it was very good for the time..had water slides, swing ropes etc but that murky water was their undoing...
typhoon lagoon has big water area with what was the worlds biggest wave machine back in early 90s....loads of slides and river rapids, a great lazy river that takes 20 mins to float around.. under caves, past cruel people with water cannon, and even a salt water reef to snorkel thru complete with fish and small harmless sharks...
sorry to go on i do love disney parks, i should be an ambassador for them. but from a design point of view this is one company that knows its stuff.. people pleasers. money makers.
well i'm off to bed, will you have a themed pool? you know pirates for the kiddies... ok really i meant for me.. i'm a big kid...
good night...

No, I'd love pirates, but the profs are totally anti-disney
Best swimming *I* remember was in a real river behind our house, fish in there too - and we could go in with the and a
, can't do *that* at Disneyland!

mu parents house was a 4 min walk from a recreational lake with a large stream running into it to feed it...many years ago it was used for public swimming as the bars are still at the one end.. however a weed that causes irritation was found to cause discomfortso swimming was banned.. they allowed the fenced in paddling pool area for a while longer but that was also closed sometime in the 60s...
anyway its filthy now but i was forever in the streams catching fish...our garden pond has some sticklebacks from that same stream i caught them 2 years ago and they have bred and colonised our humble pond. had many years of fun, i was a proper tom boy

So was I - I was always bringing creepy-crawlies home, I was homeschooled and my mother and then stepdad were a biologist and a chemist, so I got a microscope and fished things out of the swamp and the like. My father always said he wanted girls because there are enough boys who know how to use tools...

i was more boyish than my big brother...he can't even knock a nail in straight.. yet i was always building things.... my mother used to call him lily of laguna.. with his lily white hands that never saw any dirt... me on the other hand a regular little mud lark.

I lived in the US for eight years, four of which on a remote farm, which is why I was homeschooled
I speak English, German, and Dutch fluently, and some French and Spanish, I work part-time as a translator/interpreter for my mother, she's got her own translation company now.

your only a bloody genius....the shame of it is i can't even speak my native welsh language....what amazes me is how many of our close european neighbours have a very reasonable grasp of english and yet when we brits go abroad we can hardly manage just the basics..
in this regard we are very backward.....not to mention our awful yobbish louts that blacken our name everywhere they go...greece and its islands being prime destinations...
the behaviour is dreadful fornicating in what are still quite religious countries.. and the girls are no better...one of my husbands workmates just came back off a holiday to greece and he was shocked how loose the girls were.. didn't stop him sleeping with one who didn't even give her name....
if i went on a single holiday [if i were single] i wouldn't want to hook up with a british lad anyway.....on the other hand it could get all shirley valentine, declaring their undying love etc...
one of the girls in my work fell for a morroccan man... even married him but she can't get him a visa.. she has appealed they just won't let him in... she has a miserable life just waiting to visit him about twice a year... however her kids from her 1st marriage have never met him so i don't think she was being very clever.. they might hate his guts, might be just as well he can't come over here...
oh well have prattled on enough bye for now
