I've got an interview in Sussex on Wednesday, for essentially the same job I was originally doing here before boss-girl came and spoiled it. Just a lot better paid.
Any tips from anyone? It'll be my first real, grown-up job interview
Still need to buy a shirt of some kind, too. At least the interviewers are both female, so it probably won't be a case of may the shortest skirt win!

Apart from ?
I don't mean that to be glib, by the way - just that you've built up a lot of experience over and above what you'd need to do the job. Don't hold back on showing it.

Yeh... what they said... Don't sell yourself short, an interview isn't the time to be overly bashful about one's experiances and knowledge/abilities.... \Quite the reverse, a lot of people will play them up in the interview situation, maybe not lie exactly, but play up their strengths and abilities etc... So, as your competing against people who might be doing this, you kinda have to do the same... your selling yourself, your the product, the 'camodity' and you really want these people to buy into you... Just don't wear that tee shirt you described in another thread earlier

Go through the job description and have a story ready for every single characteristic that they put down there. They will probably ask you to talk about a time where you did x - try to think about what they will ask you and a reply in advance so you're not put on the spot!

Sussex is a beautiful county (I grew up in neighbouring Hampshire and I'm dead jealous of it). You'll fall in love with it, especially if you're in the heart of the Downs.
The very best of luck to you

I'm sure you'll find plenty to feed your love of history there. Pope-burners let their hair down in Lewes every November, for a start.
The National Trust originated in Sussex, too, as I'm sure you know - they might even ask you about it.

Oh yes, Beatrix Potter and all that. I think I have some reading to do tonight.
Just got a letter that I've got another job interview on the 6th, this time in Exeter. Nothing for ages, and then all at once!

Enjoy your trip to Exeter; wondering which NT place that would be...shells or dresses?

Yes, might have to turn that one into a holiday
Exeter wouldn't be a specific property, it's *cough* a consultancy role. But how did you guess that was NT, too?

Don't talk too fast or too slow, and don't mumble. Mentally review all everything you learned from a certain blockbuster software series. I don't mean the bit about making a good first impression, because I'm absolutely sure that you will.
Get up in time, fly carefully, be polite to the conductor on the train. And look executive, dear!
Avoid the sentence "I'll have my people call your people".
Any more motherly advice required? May we recommend our hotline?

Well as a crash course, I'd just suggest "Don't use the same approach with interview panels that you do with passport control".
