You fight like a dairy farmer!

I am ing like a loon at the news that Guybrush Threepwood, Mighty , is to return: http://www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland/faq
And I couldn't be more pleased at the studio that's doing it. Telltale's Sam & Max games are fantastic (if you don't believe me try the free download of Abe Lincoln Must Die!), and it looks like they're ramping up the complexity and making a full-on, old school adventure epice which just happens to be released in five episodes. Dara O'Briain is a geek

I've long been impressed at O'Briain's sciency jokes - particularly when he got Gillian McKeith put in Room 101. What he does brilliantly is the way he puts things over; I forget which show it was but he got a laugh out of Pascal's wager.
So, Dara O'Briain as the new Johnny Ball anyone?

No internets

Hi all,
Just an apology for my absence, and particularly for not getting on with my Subbing duties (in my defence I was waiting to here from the author who seems to have disappeared). I am currently without a home connection to the webosphere, because one housemate is moving out and has cancelled his package and the one who was meant to arrange a new one clearly hasn't and appears to have gone off on holiday. Bah.

"Our aim should not be more government. It should be smarter government."
That won't be difficult.

More job interviews
Posted Jul 6, 2008
I mentioned my unsuccessful library application in my previous journal, but unless you've been to Lil's Atelier you won't know that after that I applied to a chain bookshop, which will be referred to as "Edges" for the usual satirical reasons relating to moderation.
Anyway, I attended an interview for the post of bookseller (or "books seller" on the website), which I thought went well. I was worried I sounded like I was sucking up by comparing the range of books and magazines to my current place, but it was all true. Also better are pay, hours and benefits.
I didn't get that job. But they did ask me back for an informal talk about another position, dealing more with deliveries, though also working on the shop floor. Good thing I like a bit of variety because I was offered the post on the spot (evidently I did impress in the interview).
I start at the begining of next month, just as they're bringing in their new, decentralised distribution system (curiously the other big chain, Dampenrocks, are going the other way and centralising) together with new software in the stores if I understand it. Sounds like interesting times.
I'm now wondering whether to spend this new income on my own place, rather than continuing to share a house. Alternatively I could save some of the cash and spend the rest on fun stuff.
