Back to the grindstone

Ho-hum, returning to lectures today. As a fourth year MMath student I've got a big project thingy, so I only have nine timetabled hours a week. Unfortunately one-third of said hours start at nine in the morning. At least that'll stop me from lying in all morning and failing to do any work.

Speaking of my project, I went to get the library books restamped and confused the staff by having an undergraduate union card, but postgrad borrowing rights.

Intro week

OK, I've queued for hours to register and fought my way through the societies fair. I'm now a fully paid up member of Bridge Club, Leeds Universities Motor Club (sponsored by the Bricklayer's Arms, Woodhouse, Leeds), Chistian Focus (not CU, though I have finally paid them for last year) and Scifi. phew.

Watching too much tele, but I've good cause.

There's a new series of Robot Wars.

Mind you, with returning to uni, I'd better cut down on the time wasting, which can be summarised as:

Internet:
H2G2
Mornington Crescent
Ship of Fools

TV:
Buffy
Roswell High
Angel
(I'm a bit into these US scifi/fantasy shows, but why oh why oh why do they always have to start with a Previously on Weird Hour bit. Fair enough when it's a story arc, though it still gets tedious, but do we really need the entire series to be summed up before we can enjoy the latest episode.)
Robot Wars

I'm not sure what to cut, but it needs to be done to make room for:
The Brickies
Whitelock's
The Eldon
The Fenton
Woodies
The Hogshead
The Old Bar

A quandary, I think you'll agree.

What's the difference between paraffin and petrol?

Answer: There's two effs in paraffin, but no effin' petrol.

Yes folks, the fuel crisis is beginning to bite. First time I've seen more cars waiting at the pumps than parked in the supermarket carpark opposite. Fortunately I filled up on Friday, but with travelling to work every day, I hope I have enough to make it back to Leeds next Saturday. Ho-hum.
