I have given it some thought, and as much as I am familiar with my own psychic, I m still at a lose to ultimately declare why a have a passionate dislike for this colour.

Here's another:
The Purple Topshell (Gibbula umbilicalis), becoming more common on the south coast.
Also did I mention purpura, which is a purple skin discolouration.

Purple doesn't occur in the rainbow. Violet does, beyond blue; but purple is definitely reddish, which is the other end of the spectrum. It is amazing that we see colours as a circle -- there is no reason in nature why the two ends (violet and red) should join together, yet we see purple as "an intermediate between them"; in pigments we mix red and blue to get purple. As such it is a totally artificial colour, which doesn't stop flowers and butterflies and birds from synthesising it.
No doubt you have an entry on colours in general.

Don't forget to mention Amethysts are purple - and that there is a natural resource in Achill, Co Mayo, Eire.
I spent a very happy day there finding the natural crystals within the top part of the scree there. Achill's made it a Tourist Attraction - or they had, when I lived in Mayo, anyway.
FTR, Purple is probably my favourite colour. And Amethysts are probably my least favourite crystal.

Recumbentman: C55832 - colours of the visible spectrum. It's quite sparse and no, we don't have an overview of colours in general. I have stopped adding to my list of articles to be written because it's already too long for me to cope with. Perhaps someone else will be inspired by this journal.

I always intended to write a series of entries on Colour Vision, but it would need five or six to do it justice and I just never got around to it.

As I said, I abandoned that project. I'll stick to purple for the moment.
