Another intense week.

Worked last weekend. Very busy.
Then off this week. Should have got a lot
more done than I did, still I had some fun too.

After the quakes on h2g2 on Tuesday, I was a bit
frantic on Wednesday, trying to get the updates
done to the Project Glasgow article page. I got a
touch bogged down in 'Nested Tables' smiley - sadface I had
hoped to get them all done before heading over to
Glasgow for the mini-meet, which turned out to be
not so mini after all. Traffic was bad, so it took
me over 2 hours to get from my house to the pub.
Should have been there at 5pm, got there at 6pm.
Updates of the evening will be added in due course.
Suffice to say, much alcohol was imbibed by all, and
then we went for a curry!

Thursday saw me meeting Lyns at the BBC. Got a wee
look around. Very interesting. had a cup of BBC coffee
in the canteen, and then off to meet up with Underground
Caroline, to be an extra and to help out while she did her
piece to camera, about Glasgow's underground. It was
bitterly cold, and I was slightly hungover. Still we had
good fun.

Friday saw me back in Glasgow again to do my piece,
including interviewing members of the public, and an
impromptu fashion show in one of the trendy clothes shops.
Followed by pizza and wine.

All in all a productive few days for the Project.
Can't wait to hear how the others got on this weekend.smiley - winkeye

Well, it's been an intense week.
The meet went well, last weekend.
There are plenty of photo's to prove that.

We have decided on Feb.24th for the
Second H2G2 Scottish Gathering, or H2G2SGV2.

But today, I was made an Uncle again,
and got my first Guide Entry smiley - smiley
Shows how little it takes to get going really.
One innocent and amusing post to a Front Page Subject,
and you are included in an Edited Entry.
Kids, this is the way to get started. smiley - winkeye

Seti 03-01-01

Well, I just hit a minor milestone for me, I completed my 42nd unit at about 8pm 03-01-01. Not bad for somebody who only started a month ago. However, my pal at work is about to complete his 100th. (though he started over 9 months ago. To his credit, he has done about 40 units since I started, and he founded the team and works out which is the best client for us to use..... smiley - winkeye)
This is us here:

Why am I not a part of h2g2 Seti group? Because it was a spur of the moment decision to start, and brings out a bit of friendly competition at work. If I was to leave then I would move over to the h2g2 group. ok? smiley - tongueout

14-12-2000 Mini meet.

Well, last night saw myself, Dr E Vibenstein(U40285), Underground Caroline(U119285) and SPINY(U35761) meeting up with Lyns(U158938) from the BBC with regards to her call for researchers. (see following article) http://www.h2g2.com/A480340
We all arrived at about 7pm at the Cyberia internet Cafe on Hannover St., where we chatted until they closed, consuming coffee, beer and yummy nacho's. SPINY popped in and out during the evening, as he was working, unfortunately for him. When Cyberia closed, we ajourned to the hospitality of the Standing Order. (can you see a pattern emerging here? smiley - winkeye)

The point of the meet up was to try and glean a better insight into exactly what Lyns & BBC had in mind for this project. Basically it is a pilot for what is hoped to be a bigger project, should this work and go down well with those in the know. DNA has had quite a lot of input, trying to bring his vision closer to the 'hand-held' device he originally thought the Guide as being.

The basic idea, as I understand it, and people are quite free to correct me on this, is that you arrive in (for the sake of the pilot) George Square, Glasgow, you check your 'guide' to find out all about the place you are in. Things to do, places to go, things and places to eat/drink, transport, the local lingo, local customs and so forth.

This will initially be web-based, for the project, and using such products as QuicktimeVR you can take virtual tours and follow the links to the information. Lyns had also mentioned possibly doing video and audio interviews and using the vast expanse of the BBC's archives to give more life to the project. A very interesting idea, the only drawback is that it needs to be completed by the end of January, so that the bods have time to get the physical website built.
So basically it is a BBC project in conjunction with DNA and h2g2.

Now to sit down and write out thoughts on articles, etc.
I have decided to start an article that will incorporate as much info as I can gather while this progresses, sort of like a log of how this gets on. This can be found here: http://www.h2g2/A492266
