Amy: ear-deep in novels, poetics, and historical documents.

You have no idea how nice it is to find people who actually *like* puns... no one in the US seems to...

Webster says:

pun - the usually humorous use of a word in such a way as to suggest two or more of its meanings or the meaning of another word similar in sound.

John Cleese said the three rules of comedy are:
1) No puns
2) No puns
3) No puns

....which is pretty rich for someone who used to be on 'I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again'!

Classic BBC radio comedy series of the late sixties - early seventies which featured Cleese, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Grahame Garden, Bill Oddie (who became The Goodies), Jo Unwin and David Hatch (who eventually rose to Managing Director BBC Radio). The programme was based almost entirely on excruciatingly corny puns.
Amazingly enough, I've had a look and there doesn't seem to be a guide entry on ISIRTA....

Not many people get me either... perhaps it'll be better once people who I crack thinking jokes to start reading books... such as 1984...
