The county finally came around with a Gradall excavator to pick up all the dead limbs from Hurricane Beryl today. A Gradall is not the most thorough method of picking up brush so a lot of small and medium sized tree limbs and sticks were left behind with the leaves. The neighbor across the street tried to do a favor for us after he raked up the remaining limbs on his side of the street and started raking those from our pile. He did this at 14:00. The hottest part of the day. So of course I had to rush out there and stop him and finish the job myself, not just raking but cutting up and collecting them in a trash can. The actual temp was 97F. The "feels like" temp was 111F. I definitely got over-heated and it took me about 30 minutes to regain composure, stop sweating and panting, and for my nausea and faint headedness to subside.
I waited until after 18:30 to mow the almost but not quite dry ditches. That just made me sweat and not overheat.

For the second Sunday in a row there were afternoon thunderstorms as I was about to leave work. Unlike last week's, yesterday's stayed over central Austin (and didn't move for some time) and the western side including Gosho Mansions, and Camp Mabry which recorded almost an inch of rain in much less than an hour, while the airport recorded not even a trace of rain. The temperatures when and after the storm arrived were impressive too, starting with 96 at 12.51, then 73, 72, 75, 85, and back to 91 by 17.51.
