That early morning humidity is the thing I most like to see go away as we get into September and October. I can take the afternoon blistering heat far more easily than walking out of the door into 90%+ RH at 6.30am.

The issues with this place are getting ever more strange and frustrating. I can get to neither my More Postings page nor my 'see more journal entries' page without a Cloudflare error page coming up, and just now I found a banner at the top of the conversation saying that this website is offline and here's a snapshot of it from the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive, and yet here I am quite obviously posting.

Because of all these shenanigans I'm having to post this here instead of the relevant conversation which I can't get to.

This morning I got the Cloudflare error page again when trying to get to My Space from the Egg Banjo entry, and a few moments later My Space appeared with the added Cloudflare banner at the top saying this website is offline, click here for a snapshot from the Wayback Machine, and yet clearly h2g2 isn't offline.

While we managed one third of an inch of rain, finally, other places around the region were getting 3" - 4", and up to 9" in one place to the west of Austin. Del Rio, seriously behind on rainfall since January, has had 6.55" in the last three days, and about 8" in the past week or so.

Hurricane Francis seems to be forming in the Bay of Campeche and the spaghetti models seem to indicate it will be heading into Louisiana and scraping the upper Texas coast on its way there. At least that's what they're saying now, but that cone of probability seems to show it heading right for Galveston Bay. Beryl was supposed to hit the Northern coast of Mexico and it hit here, on the upper Texas coast. To say I don't trust early meteorological predictions is stating the obvious.

We shall see. Meanwhile, where did those 97° highs on Friday and Saturday come from

For the past two or three days I've been able to get to my MP page directly from the bookmark, but today normal service has been resumed. Cloudflare page from the MOP bookmark, Cloudflare page from the My Space bookmark. Got in the usual way, through an edited entry, then My Space which had to be refreshed twice before recognising me.

Any road up. When I got up yesterday the thermostat read 77, the lowest it's been in months and I didn't have to turn on the a/c until around 8pm when I realised it was getting a bit sweaty in here. Checked the thermostat and it was 81°. It's 78° this morning, one degree below my cool setting, so I've turned it on, ready.

On each of the computers I use (3) and my cellular devices (2), I have My Space pinned in a tab I never close in Brunel.
From there I simply click the My Conversations on the left side bar to open the pop-out My Convos thingy to access, well the convos I'm looking for.
That pop-out refreshes itself every minute or so, and that will show the page where Cloud Flare tells us the H2G2 servers are fubar again. I'll right-click to refresh that a few times in a row to see if it fixes itself ("H2G2 servers don't fix themselves, Mr. Lowry.") If not, I check again the next time my eye drifts across the pop-up again an hour or two later and try again. That seems to work for me and it keeps me logged in so I don't have to go through that rig-a-marole very often, rarely even.

I know many folks have some hate for brunel, but that pop-up makes it worth it to me.

I don't have a particular dislike or hatred for Brunel, I simply love Goo

How about pinning an brunel tab and it's "my convos" pop-up, just to see if it allows you to get in when you're having trouble through glorious Goo? It will definitely still be subject to the h2g2 server errors, but it might keep you signed in when the site returns.


Also, Francine passed about 150 miles offshore from Galveston this morning. It's unlikely to loop around and bite us in the ass, so I think we dodge this one.

Since I only come here once a day now and only to this conversation it really isn't worth it. I'm always signed but sometimes the site doesn't recognise the cookie, like today when I had to refresh the Egg Banjo twice before I got a My Space link.
