It just moved over the bay. It did slip by just a couple of miles south of us in San Leon. I don't know if it was on the ground, as we only had one tv station available, even on aerial antenna. That station wasn't particuarly helpful as they kept jumping around, showing different radar modes when we only wanted to see the rotation and wind/debris track.

I hope you and the family are okay BG. I'm looking at the NWS Houston/Galveston page and seeing reports of five confirmed tornadoes for December 26th, all to the west or north of you, but the weather happened on Saturday according to you and all the news reports I've found. Ah, I've found another one (Houston Chronicle) which describes Saturday's outbreak

I took a drive through San Leon to see any damage. It was minimal. The sign for a business that closed (burned down for insurance fraud in the '80s), rusty from the years in the salt air, blew over taking out some light poles and the power for half the town. Directly across the street is an old RV park (not recreational, just poor folks living in travel trailers) that appeared only as disheveled as it usually does plus maybe a cheap awning or two. Up the street aways it didn't even take out the many Trump flags in several yards.

The radar was showing the winds but it wasn't showing the tale-tale blue of debris so it wasn't touching the ground for several miles before going over the bay. When it was on the ground in Liverpool and Alvin, it did take out an elementary school (Walt Disney Elementary ) and a few homes and killed a few people.
You may know all that already from the Houston Chronicle article, but I didn't bother turning off my adblocker to read it.

It's an hour early.

It was an hour or two late here, and the temperature hasn't dropped the way it did earlier today in Dallas. It's only just gone below 60°.

In the last hour, it's dropped from 72F to 62F. About average for a cold front moving quickly through the area.

The front arrived here between 11.51 (wind variable, 7mph, 75°) and 12.51 (wind N 13mph, gusts to 33mph, 68°). When it passed through Dallas soon after 7am the temperature dropped by almost 20° in one hour, from 67 to 48. I would expect to see a temperature drop approaching that kind of magnitude that when a strong front like this one passes through Austin. Any road up, this cold spell is set to last for a while.

As usual, we're just below the freeze line. It was 34F when I left at a quarter to six am. That said, I do think I hit an icy spot at a stop light at work. My tires spun out even easier than normal on just a wet patch.

Motorbike I presume, not recumbent?

No motorbike anymore. My vision issues got significantly worse a couple of years ago and I sold it. I can't see when someone changes lanes right into me now.

I was in my EV, a used Chevy Bolt with a brand new battery thanks to the big fiery recall a couple of years ago. Lots of torque and low rolling resistance means lots of squeals taking off from a stop.
