My plants have been inside a dark apartment for nine days. I was hoping to get them back out on the balcony after it had warmed up today, but Thursday morning is forecast to be 38 now, and there's another, even colder, front arriving at the weekend! At one point yesterday the temperature for Monday morning was predicted to be 20. We'll see how that goes over the next several days.

I think the cold weather in the UK must be affecting the badgers. Pages here are taking far longer to load than usual.

At work, on the slope of a storm drain in the shadow of an oak tree, one bit of snow is still holding on, at least it was when I got back from lunch. I watched a house sparrow hopping across it.

A few patches survived a day or two on my balcony, in shadow.

I'm not sure what's going on with the record high and low temperatures. After checking back to last year I think they might have put today's record readings up yesterday because the records for January 25th 2024 are the same as the ones I saw yesterday and used here, and the ones for the 24th are not the same as the numbers I used in the previous post. If that all makes sense.
