And there's me all hot and bothered at our humid temperaturessmiley - doh I don't envy you, I really don't.

Take care. Hope the storms don't cause too much damage.

Looks like we didn't go below 76/24.4 last night. One of the first things I heard when the radio alarm woke me up this morning was "...and at 6.51 it's 79°."

Still, could be worse. Could be Phoenix. Their night-time minimum temperatures are already in the 90s, and more than 100 during the day.

Looks like Houston got rained on pretty good this morning.

Houston did. I did at work. But the I'm pretty sure my home got missed, yet again. The storms keep just barely dodging the little berg of Bacliff.

It managed to skirt Fort Gosho pretty good too, and there was me wanting to go out and do some shopping, and maybe get breakfast this morning but I took one look at the radar and gave up on that one.

Not a drop of rain fell on Austin smiley - cross

So, now that I have nothing in for dinner because I didn't go out this morning when I could have, and I've decided to go to the supermarket this evening, which also happens to be almost next door to a restaurant I like to visit once in a while, there's more rain on the radar, heading this way just like the rain this morning.

What are the odds that this rain won't fizzle out now that I've decided to head off to buy food and eat out smiley - headhurts

Just so ya know, I was wrong... We did get rain at the house... less than 1/4 inch.

We got rain here too... in the middle of the night. I was woken up about two hours after I went to sleep by some near-biblical thunder and lightning, including at least one strike that must have been within the complex. I hope it wasn't the laundry room - I have to do my washing today smiley - flustered Last time it happened it took out an old oak tree next to the office smiley - sadface

Any road up, we got 1.13" of pluvius between 3am and 7am, but some places got 3"-4".

I got little sleep smiley - yawn

This is definitely the sort of day when it's preferable to get all your outside stuff done as early as possible and then stay inside for the rest of the day with the a/c on. Not that it's much more pleasant indoors because it's just plain humid.

Still, here we are, middle of June and we haven't hit 100 yet if you don't count the heat index.

I've probably just jinxed it, haven't I.

Yea, probably. It was 97 yesterday and 84 at dawn this morning.

Our forecast for the next eight days looks like a broken record - 95/96 and partly cloudy every day, 75 and partly cloudy every night.

We're getting a soaking of biblical proportions smiley - yikes We've had almost two inches of rain in the past two hours and I fully expect another inch to be recorded when the next hour's figures come up online.

If we don't get 2 months rain in the next 48 hrs, there's gonna be a hosepipe ban in Manchester smiley - yikes

We only got .38" for that third hour but that's at Camp Mabry in west Austin. Feels like we got more here in 78704. It was three feet deep down by the dumpsters at one point where the main storm drain for the complex is to be found but that's subsided now. Still raining though.

You can have some of our rain Granny smiley - biggrin Apparently we're forecast to get even more over the next two or three days as TS Alex moves ashore just about on the Texas/Mexico border.

Can I have some too please Gosho? It is sweltering here and dry as sticks. We had a few showers 24 hours ago but it evaporated as soon as it touched ground. The shower (cold) is the only place to be comfortable todaysmiley - doh It seems we shall not need a hosepipe ban in middle England on present reports, but you never know.

GWW, why can't they get their act together and collect some of the deluges we had last year! smiley - grr What a waste! And where did it all go?

We ended up with 2.5" by the time it stopped raining yesterday, btw.

I think it's got something to do with the lack of maintenance of the reservoirs & pipelines. Manchester's water is gravity piped down from the Lake District and we all know how they suffered!

You've got smile, really...

"Temperatures recorded this afternoon placed Norwich as the hottest place in Britain with 30C (86F) recorded at its weather station.

Just behind was Writtle, in Essex, at 29.7C (85.5F).

St James' Park, in central London, and Gravesend, Kent, basked at 28.9C (84F).

Temperatures may go even higher across East Anglia and south-east England today and tomorrow but it is not the hot sunshine during the day that people need to be wary of, but roasting night-time temperatures of at least 20C (68F)."
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/health-alert-as-britain-swelters-2022409.html

Roasting temperatures of 68F smiley - bigeyes

I don't buy the 'Well, there's no a/c in Britain' as a reason for smiling at that. Around this time of the year, the temperature at dawn in Austin is in the mid to upper 70s (mid 20s C), and I don't use my a/c at night so the idea of 68 being 'roasting' is for sure going to bring a smile to my lips. And the mid 80s F is not high enough to warrant a national wailing and a gnashing of teeth on the scale being hinted at. In this case I also do not buy the 'But it's so humid!' rationale. We've had temperatures of 90F+ and humidity of 90%+ in the past couple of weeks. Not pleasant.
