Well it's gone cold here, 13C, and guess what, it's raining

It was 91 here in Austin yesterday too, but the nice man on the wireless just told me that our first 90+ temperature of the year came in about a month later than average, so I'm hoping that it's hint of things to come this summer... in other words, we won't get 60-odd 100­°+ days this year. We haven't had much in the way of storms yet this spring and we're already into May.

Humph - I was out pruning the roses today wearing 2 pairs of socks, a teeshirt, jumper, fleecy jogging bottoms and a quilted waistcoat - ah the joys of a British spring

BTW any one want some cornflowers? I've been trying to get rid of them for years

We've had ozone warnings because of the heat. It's only May, for BoB's sake!

Cornflowers? Blue ones? I'd love some for the windowsill

Definitely going to be scorchio this weekend. But in the nearer future, like in an hour or two, we're going to be hit by some severe weather

We still have another hour and a half, at least, before the sun goes down but it's black as night out there! The wind's getting up, I can hear continuous thunder in the not too far off distance and even the birds have stopped singing.

I tell you what though, it feels like the temperature's dropped 20°F out there

7pm: 79F/54% humidity, no rain
8pm: 67F/97% humidity, 0.89" rain

There's some pretty good lightning still going on, and it's still raining too, but not much. Looks like it will be for several hours more.

Bloody hell! If it's a second for every mile between seeing the lightning and hearing the thunder, that one couldn't have been more than 200 yards away Made the fillings in my teeth rattle!

I'm really hoping that storm front moves through my area before I have to go to work in the morning. I barely managed to avoid the thunderstorms in our area today (in between lunch and end of day we had a lot of rain at work and none at home where we really need it).

Oh boy, here we go. They've been forecasting scorchio this weekend, and when it's 77/25 at 8.30am you know you're in for a hot one. Yesterday morning was just perfect - it was 10° cooler as I left for work at ten past eight.
