We've had 2.49" of measured rain in the last 25 hours. About 85% of it came overnight and it's still raining, but it looks like it's going to stop soon and I don't see any more bands behind it, although they're still giving us an 80% chance of more rain today, maybe a thunderstorm or two. We've caught up with the rainfall deficit somewhat - only 0.73" behind now, and that'll be cut down even more after the next day or two.

It's chilly for the time of year. Our average high for mid March is in the low 70s (low 20s C), but today and tomorrow we won't get any warmer than the mid 40s (upper tens C), and after a few days of warming up we won't hit those average temperatures until Monday. The rest of the week is looking pretty nice for SXSW.

We're in the mid 50's and the rain missed us passing about 50 miles North of us yesterday. I'm not expecting rain today either, at least not much more than a passing shower.

I'm noticing that the duck ponds on site here are looking about half empty. The carp probably only have 6-10 inches of water to swim in. smiley - hsif

Bloody hell it's grim out there! Five days ago it was like London in July here smiley - bigeyes Today it's more like Accrington in November smiley - sadface

We've had about 2.25" of rain since it all kicked off early Wednesday morning and the temperature hasn't risen above 48F or dropped below 40. The forecast high for today is 45, tomorrow 55, Sunday 65 and Monday... no, it's 79F smiley - tongueout Just in time for music part of SXSW to get underway. Then mid to upper 70s all the way through to the end of the week smiley - biggrin

5.30? In the morning?

There's no such thing smiley - tongueout

Hey, I was more than happy believing that there was only one 5:30 in the day until I got the option for having three day weekends from now on.

And this smiley - bleeping extended daylight saving time that now begins way before anyone is even thinking about Summer is ridiculous.

It was like the killer fog of 1962 in London yesterday morning.
When I walked home from work at six thirty in the AM, I couldn't see my house from the stop sign at the end of the block.

Today, in Temple, a few inches on the map from Austin, it has been like another planet. The weather was autumny and I rode my bike around in just a t-shirt and a cut off sweatshirt and shorts.
Got a good look at the yard for the first time in what seems like six months.
Good antidote for the crappy holidays.

In the killer fog of 1962 we couldn't see two steps in front of us, and that was in Birmingham, UK. We were walking in front of cars to guide them round roundabouts it was so bad smiley - doh

It's foggy here on the gulf coast this morning... not pea soup, just a thick chicken stock but I absolutely hate riding smiley - biker in the fog which means taking the car in to work. I get a great parking spot in the morning coming in so early but it also means I have to take an earlier lunch or I end up parking half a mile away when I get back. On the bike I park just outside the building, so I'm spoiled.

You could take a packed lunch and eat it in your car... leastways at this time of the year. Wouldn't want to try that in August without the a/c running.

I should pack a lunch (I wouldn't have to eat in the car) but I do enjoy getting out of the office for lunch and reading a book.

Our first spring weather of the season! A thunderstorm yesterday evening around 7pm that gave us a quarter of an inch, and another 0.18" this afternoon smiley - biggrin

Well they sure got that one wrong! Before I went to bed last night I checked the overnight weather forecast - it said low 30s, FREEZE WARNING!

Bugger, I thought, better pile on the duvet. Woke up this morning sweating like a pig - it was close to 60/15. WTF? I don't believe a damn thing they say any more. Gonna be another cold one Monday night... supposedly. Believe it when I see it.

This is the damnedest winter I can remember. I'm pretty sure that by this time most years I've packed the duvet away until November and I'm sleeping under a single sheet.

Well shee-it, that ain't the case this year.

Bloody hell, I thought it felt a bit warm this afternoon. We got up to 95F here in Austin, 99 in San Antonio, and 101 in New Braunfels. Normal for this time of the year is 78F.

There's a possibility of some storms over Easter weekend.

Now I'm in a quandary. It's forecast to go down to 42 tonight, which is duvet territory, but we're still sitting at 72F at almost half past eleven o'clock pm. Do I put the duvet on or take a chance with the sheet, which was more than adequate last night.

I was going to be standing in that rain, guiding people parking their cars for a county fair. We rent the fair grounds for our annual motorcycle rally and rodeo committee that runs the fairgrounds offered a "deal" for us to get the rental for free if we helped with parking. When we got the final details we found out we'd basically be working for the equivalent of $1.00 per hour and not allowed to wear our club vests as we were originally told.

I'm SO happy we backed out of that. Of course they'll probably be petty about it and start being very uncooperative with us (again). Rednecks.
