As fate or serendipity-or my proximity/time zone-would have it, a Canadian one at that...Edmonton Alberta. So thanks for supplying the introduction(I'm sure you'll be welcomed by the Canadian community here, but more on that later). I see you've already done some 'decorating'*gestures*impressive, but to further familiarize yourself with everything carefully review Feisor's list of Hints and Links at A719840. There's a wealth of useful information there, not to mention numerous links to features such as our weekly newspaper <./>thepost</.>. You'll also discover items such as the Researchers' Map at A5076614 and the All-New Researchers' Birthday Page at A293195 (among Numerous other points of interest). Oh and the Canadians here can be found in the Canadian Researchers' Club at A1037323 or more specifically in F19585?thread=252800&latest=1 ...our 'lounge' of sorts - consider an invitation extended.

Thank you kindly for the links, I was a bit lost when I started that however made it much easier to find things.

I do have one question and it may sound really stupid lol but I am new so be it.

This Chief Gordon's I am only seeing one post continuing.. is it just one continuous post of anything and not a threaded forum ?
I saw the other conversations button (just) but they appear to be completely different conversations?

Also, I have seen entries with pictures however they don't appear to be allowed in unedited entries, (the picture galleries excluded) I am assuming then pictures get added by staff if your entry is chosen is this correct?

When one wants to make a group or society is that just done making a Guide Entry as well or is there something else to it?

Also one last one [sorry its so long!]
As far as editing goes, submitting something for review means that its read and reviewed by some one else on the site helping you with editing but does it also give suggestions on strengthening articles and such?

I ask because that is really what I am after, potentially I can see that being something this site could do but again I don't want to make too many assumptions.

Hi, good to hear from you so soon...must be close to 1am there, so I assume you're a bit of a nightowl like myself. And you're quite welcome, having done face-to-face PR for years, I volunteered for this. Ok, at this hour & after a wee dram of Glenfiddich...the two I'm comfortable answering first - Yes Chief Gord's(or just the Chief's)is an ongoing/changing series of posts, if that answers your question(you may notice the 'pages' feature in the margin)...& yes I assume you're correct about the pictures, although I have doublecheck on that...as far as forming a group(I really ought to know, but I suggest you ask anhaga-a fellow Edmontonian-about that, as he's responsible for creating the Chief's...& yes you're right about submitting entries.

Let me know if there's anything I can clarify or elaborate on, in regards to the Chief's ok. Actually I suggest you try posting there, as it'll enhance your 'visability'(certainly to those of us who frequent the thread).

I actually hadn't noticed the pages in the lounge lol so thank you, it totally cleared that right up.

I found my answer for the group thing actually looking at the conversations on the page again.
That's what I get for skipping over things just labeled "???" lol

Tho I am curious, they talk about advertising your groups or societies how I would do that might take some more digging and poking around unless you have an idea?

hehe the more heads the better but maybe that's just me.
You must have read my mind about the eyes I had noticed that and wondered tho i never noticed it by my own name. lol
it must be late for me my brain is starting to turn off.

I do have one question, I have noticed with one site theme I have the ability to bookmark pages of interest but now that I am in the GOO theme I don't seem to have them any longer, is there any way I can change that?

Alright, now that I've actually read your whole introduction(as opposed to just skimming the first couple sentences, almost crying out loud 'ah a Canadian!' & ning to compose my welcoming note)...I do a fair bit of reading as well, in fact am at present reading two different on climate change as well as a few fictional novels. Oh & just finished a fictional story interspersed with fairly frequent little philosophical asides. As far as , it's mainly contemporary. These days quite a bit of Jazz, Blues, R&B with bits of Rock & Post-Punk. Actually speaking of foreign music, have you heard Harry Manx-not that he's foreign....aside from being born on the Isle Of Man. He studied east indian music & weaves it very harmoniously(I think)into his primarily Blues guitar http://www.harrymanx.com/main.html And I too enjoy Big Bang Theory - just saw the episode with the cricket & the cameo by Lewis Black. I actually appreciate the whole cast, they each con tribute something fairly unique...though I must say even I find Sheldon's character to be a highlight, the 'uber-'.
