That's right, lil. Just a little more to the right. Perfect. That should stop the draft from getting in.

If this was a certain other part of hootoo , we'd now be embroiled in a long and heated discussion about the validity of the term bonkers and whether it was oppressive to mental health consumers, which would lead to another conversation about PC and the world gone mad, which would lead to another conversation about how accusations of PCness are now a form of censorship and stiffling of debate, which would lead to various people flouncing off, unsubbing, resubbing, commentary on why people need to unsub, and why people need to let everyone else know they're unsubbing, which would lead to someone asking why the bloody hell we can't stay on topic, and then it would branch off into reminiscences about the good old days, and then...

And this wouldn't be hootoo if not at least one of those questions wasn't answered:

Hi GarudaJones,
Nice to see that they haven't quite left Sam all on his own. Not that he's not capable, and not that there aren't people around here who would happily keep him (virtual) company to ensure his ongoing sanity, but I figure he still needs to sleep sometimes!
It looks from this thread like you've been thrown in at the deep end of h2g2, whether or not that was the intention.
One of the nice things about h2g2 is that the cheery welcome is fairly hard to turn into anything other than ongoing friendliness, unless you make a deliberate effort!
Anyway, enjoy the site!

Good one B'El
Maybe in the spirit of Mr Jones' new role we could see how many referential EG entries we can link to in this thread

You should still be able to catch it at that speed. But I've just simplified it a little by making the area bigger

To keep everyone up to speed on my doings so far...
It's official, you guys are CRAZY (in a really, really good way). I'm helping prep a weekly discussion point for the homepage in between trying (and spectacularly failing) to keep up with the huge welcoming reponse I've engendered, so I'll be fascinated to know as to whether you think it's naff. And worry not, I have very thick skin. I remain in your hands.
On a lighter note - can someone send Sam a note? He's feeling neglected since I came along and stole all the italic limelight
Go on share the hootoo love.

Malabarista - that is fantastic!
...funny, that takes me back to some of the games I used to play when I had my old rubber-keyed 16k ZX Spectrum!
Oh, and Kea ~ I'm intrigued by the term "mental health consumers"...
Suggesting that there are those who *don't" consume mental health...
I could think of a few.
That leads me to another link...

GJ - A good talking point may well be:-
How much fun would it be if some of the BBC Bloggers were to present their Blogs in h2g2 format on the h2g2 site.
The DNA communication language seems to have more versatility than The BBC Blog Network.
Sam, Nick Reynolds and you should get together and consider the potential of h2g2.
It would seem that DNA won the battle of the Message Boards.
It may well prove to be a better communication tool than a one sided Blog.
People don't 'mess' around with Guide Entries as much as they do with Conversations.
Give us a BBC researchers view on why the BBC took over h2g2 in the first place.

The fluffy pink rabbit seems to have eaten his carrots and gone back to a safe place (safe for him, at least ), and our new Italic sounds energized and surprisingly sane for this point in the immersion, so all seems well.
