Morning Ormy! I didn't see you there. I haven't had any problem with aching legs following this interval training programme.

You have to bear in mind how spectacularly unfit I've been throughout most of my life. I've just done the mental arithmetic and worked out that I did two runs of about a quarter of a mile each yesterday. (9mph? A gentle 5mph is quite enough for me).
I am sure that I've never done that in my life before - I definitely never ran for a whole circuit of my school athletics track, which would have been the equivalent of what I was doing yesterday. It's no wonder my legs are protesting about suddenly having to do this after 44 years with no such demands put on them.
Anyway, well done. . It sounds like you're doing brilliantly!

Well done Amy
I had to for the train to work this morning and ended up feeling quite a lot out of breath with aching legs but I did manage to get the train Probably only a couple of hundred or so metres but still not quite so good first thing in the morning!

I remember running in school on the track, I used to come last for my form. I'm just not very fast.
but you should have seen me go when I had bullies running after me.
I cycled my new route today, 4 miles, putting on the breaks hurt my wrists a bit.

DoctorMO, please take care. We wouldn't want you to break anything else.
To set Phil's achievement in context, his legs are 100 metres long so I'm not sure what he's crowing about .
I did my run early today [(8 + 3) x 3] because I have a seminar to go to later on this afternoon and I didn't want to arrive all pink and blotchy.
Tomorrow is the 50th Anniversary of Bannister's 4-minute mile. I'm going to have a go at the 10-minute mile on the treadmill to celebrate .
Orm, you should give this interval training a go. I'm amazed at how quickly my fitness has improved even though I'd been going to the gym regularly. On the other hand, I was a runner when I was an antling - cross country, 800m, Left Half in a hockey team with Forwards who thought the point of the game was to give the ball to the opposition . Perhaps someone at the gym could advise you - or you could just follow the backlog of this thread .

My my, I wish my legs were 100m long, being able to leap tall buildings in a single stride could come in handy as a nice party piece I can see that from an 's eye view that I may seem that tall but in reality my legs are only 25.25m long
The only crowing was that I managed to get the train, which is good as missing that train would have meant I was very late to work (instead of just late) as I'd already missed my normal train.

Ooh, I can see up your trouser leg all the way to your knees .
I've unexpectedly been a very poorly ant for the last couple of days - particularly bad today . I'll have to postponed today's training to tomorrow.

I took it easy today and ran the first part of the 10, 5, 10, 5 very slowly. Too slowly, probably. I did the second half faster and as a result had to walk way past The Nest to fit the final 5 in. I'm hardly puffed at all, to be honest. I could do it all over again.

Well done, Amy!
I think my legs are learning to live with this strange 'running' business. I did another couple of three-minute bursts on Thursday and didn't ache anything like as much as before. I was even able to go swimming the next morning. And I felt *really* fit and well.

I'm glad you're feeling well, Ormy. Howz about coming across to Leeds on July 10th and doing the mile for Sports Relief?

12 + 5 + 12 completed. Who would ever have thought that I could run for 12 minutes at a time... twice?

I saw my proper about my underlying poorliness today. She was very pleased with the general state of me but shares my concern that I haven't had an appointment with the neurologist for ever such a long time now. She' s going to make enquiries.
Ormy's gone quiet. Was it something I said? Is he running a mile from running a mile?

Today I figured out how to set intervals on the treadmill. I'm using that to increase my speed because, not content with running three miles without stopping, I want to complete the race in under 30 minutes and to do that, I need to run at better than 6mph.

Yes, well done Amy. You really have inspired me!
Unfortunately, I can't make it to Leeds on July 10 as it's the day of the next h2g2 London meet, which I'm going to. Also, I would like to take part in a mile event when I can actually run a mile. I still have some way to go on that score, although I managed a five minute in the gym the other day.
Could I sponsor your instead?

What a shame - maybe next year .
I'd forgotten about the meet. Perhaps, when my sponsor form arrives, I can send it to you and, as a founder member of Team Ant, you could ask the kind folk there assembled to sponsor me (and cough up the cash on the spot, of course). 0.1p a yard seems reasonable - when they're very drunk, go for 1p a yard .
I'm not going to bother friends and family myself because they've already shelled out generously for Cancer Research. If I go asking for money every time I set myself a running challenge I'll out of friends .
However, if I ever do a marathon there will be nowhere to hide for anyone.
Do I have your email address? Do you have mine?
