An Important Realisation
Posted Apr 1, 2001
I just realised. One of my school friends is none other than the son of the chairman of the BBC. If anyone is interested in me now, please make a comment, suggesting how I can manipulate this particular little claim to fame.

My Birthday
Posted Nov 30, 2000
Well. It's my birthday. Business as usual, then. Birthdays are lame. I get fewer and fewer presents each year. I'm not shallow, but really. A parcel and an envelope is very little when you want to feel loved. Which I do. So, you've got your mamoth pile of presents, which doesn't matter, because it is better to give and receive.
Last year I had to go on a run. A three and a half mile run in the cold and the wet. I regret only coming 143 out of 149.
It would make it much better if you added something to this journal, though.
I'm 17, since you ask.

Work and A Levels
Posted Oct 11, 2000
I am the first of a new generation. A generation of candidates taking the new style A Levels. This means that I don't get two years to prepare for tough exams. I get one year to prepare and have exams and then a second. This is manifestly a bad thing. We have to do four subjects now, not three, to AS level (nominally half an old A) and then drop one for the A2, which might be described as 'difficult'.
This equates to more work and less time in which to do it. Here's an example. Sometime during your day, think of me. (Painful, I know, but bear with me) I'll probably be doing work. That or sleeping. But more like as not work. Then think of me latter. I'll still be doing work. i have what you might call a 60 hour week. Which is about a third more than the government recommends.
A final thought, then: Hurrah for Tony Blair! (And hurrah! for my new Headmaster, for it was he who thought this bloody idea up in the first place.)

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
