Ian's brother Les is visiting at the moment, staying a week, I think but as he's also retired, they're playing it by ear. I don't have to nick a car Prof, I was given one a few months ago, Ian's son-in-law bought a van for their trips to Spain & back and they wouldn't take his Ford in part exchange, and he wouldn't take the pittance he was offered in cash so he passed it on to me. She's a dark red Ford Focus I've named Ruby 'cos it's just like having magic slippers being able to get in it and be at Mum's in 5 minutes or Ian's in 10.

My son has a Ford Focus, lovely car. You deserve it

Ian used to leave his tea until it was lukewarm then drink it
Since chemo finished he now can only drink it piping hot, and hates it "gone cold" (same as myself).

I have got into the habit of going to his after I leave Mum's, but he has told me not to change my plans for Christmas as we now have his op date, 17th January, he'll be admitted on the 16th. The op will take 8-10 hours and it is so complex that his surgeon only does one a month. The surgeon said there's no guarantee he will survive the op.
