Carrot greens, finely minced with scissors, baked in a quiche, the strong flavor becomes an advantage.

I was always told it was poisonous. Or was that the green in potatoes?

The green in potatoes is *technically* poisonous, but you'd have to eat a *lot* (kilograms) of just green peels for it to hurt you, if I remember correctly.

The main hazard with carrot greens is vitamin A toxicity, otherwise, they're like a stronger form of parsley.

One can overdo it, but it takes some doing.

Mum's bathlift was installed last week so we had a comparatively-easy bath day on Fridaysmiley - magic and the bath tub now fills up with hot water with no kettle-boiling or jugs smiley - magic

One carer (my age, roughly) who turned up on Thursday seemed interested when I was talking about my having to update my h2g2 entry on King Richard III with the week's events. She asked me why he'd been buried under a car park in the first place. I thought she was joking. She wasn't. I explained that he died over 500 years ago, and there were no cars then so they didn't need car parks, he'd been buried in a church now long gone and a car park built on top. She said she felt a bit daft and told Mum I'd do well on The Chase because I'm so clever. Mum said "I know! That's what I keep telling everybody!" (smiley - laugh)

I have the use of a magic carpet for two weeks. smiley - magic

Ian's daughter has gone on holiday, Ian's paid the insurance and my brother's given me some petrol money. smiley - boing

We have a family wedding on Saturday, my sister's middle son. At a posh hotel in Immingham (I didn't know there was such a thingsmiley - silly)
Me having the use of a car will save the family mega ££ in taxis getting Mum to the venue and home, and me a lot less stress. I've also done her shopping which my brother hasn't had time for.

Great news, I know how much a vehicle means in difficult circumstances and taxis are so expensive.

Enjoy the break you deserve it.

Today it was worth its weight in gold. Mum's cough is giving cause for concern, so I rang the District Nurse, who rang the triage nurse at the smiley - doctor surgery, who rang me back and prescribed anti-biotics over the phone. If someone can come to collect it, it'll be ready by 3pm. I was able to go collect, get the meds, return to Mum and give her the first dose, and write it all up for the carers. Then I popped into Tesco on the way home for 2 jugs of milk and a big bag of cat litter which I normally can't carry home! Truly a magic carpet.

The Curzon Centre which Mum attends every Wednesday is facing cuts - they may drop certain days or lose the transport. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that the place doesn't shut smiley - sadface

I attended a meeting about it today - in Grimsby as I was already in the area due to a dental check-up - and had told them I was going to attend via email. I got a nice response from a "Selene" which made me smile, reminded me of my selenographer friend Patrick Moore. I sought her out after the meeting, shook her hand and asked her how come she came to be named after the Greek goddess of the moon. She looked quite shocked and said this was the first time she'd met someone who actually knew what it meant smiley - laugh I said I am an astronomer and my good friend Patrick Moore was a selenographer - she didn't know that!smiley - fullmoon

Mum has a really awful cough smiley - sadface

The triage nurse came out after I rang the smiley - doctor surgery about a month ago. She said there was a rattle when Mum breathed smiley - erm and gave me a prescription of Amoxicillin to collect. This is the lowest antibiotic which is prescribed for children and did no good at all. I went back to the surgery last week to ask for another visit but instead was told to collect more (stronger) antibiotics which she's now half-way through. Yesterday she was still coughing up her lungs but when I rang the surgery they said they will send the triage nurse out to visit again when the antibiotics are finished. I don't know how her frail little body is coping with all this. I'm dreading if she has to go back into hospital smiley - sadface

Are you sure she is actually swallowing the tablets?

Mum update (GB)

She can't have tablets due to her hiatus hernia, it's liquid antibiotic. And yes, the carers have to watch her take it and swallow it before they sign the drug sheet.
