The rings haven't turned up, and Mum knows nothing about them. My sister has reported the loss to the police and she's being interviewed on Monday. Mum has house insurance but I have no idea if this would be covered, with hindsight I wish I'd notified the insurance company of the situation beforehand

Never mind, GB. Your mum's health is much more important than some rings.

I agree, Gnomon, but the disappearing of the rings leaves a nasty suspicion which Ann and her family could easily be without - as could all the innocent people who are now living under the shadow

Regarding the insurance people GB! They usually prefer to have a crime number; which your Sister will get from the police. This makes any claim more valid.

I know, but Mum is very upset that her rings are missing
Thanks scorp, that'll be noted.
What a lovely day I had today, spent time with Ian and his daughter Caroline, 2 of my children and all 3 of my grandsons, and then Allan, Laura & Liam popped in to see Mum with me. It did my heart good

GB, I am glad you had a lovely day, you so deserve it.
I feel for your Mum, such things are very precious to us old ladies and mean a great deal more to us than to our menfolk.
I do hope they are found without too much upset. It is a worry you can do without as you need the help, but such suspicions make things very difficult.

I'm glad you had a lovely day GB, hopefully they'll keep coming for you.
As for your carer's, I think here in the states these people are 'bonded' that means that there is insurance taken out to repay for pillaging, however that does not cover 'sentimental value'. Sorry for her loss.

Along with Mum's hairdressing appointment yesterday I also had my hair cut. What a treat The lunchtime carer arrived while Mum was under the drier so she couldn't make her lunch, so I offered to make her scrambled egg on toast...she refused, saying I'd promised her sausages for her tea () but when I said we had no sausages and I wouldn't be there at teatime she agreed to the scrambled egg. I hate Mum's pans, they are not non-stick, which I thought went out with the ark. It took me longer to clean the egg pan than it did to cook lunch for 4 people
Today I'm signing on. I regret telling my mother that because she almost blew a gasket, she can't imagine what "they" are thinking, expecting me to go out to work at my age (!!!) And who is going to look after her?????? She even swore.

Oh, well she has spirit at least GB. I always scramble my eggs with some milk in a bowl in the microwave, it is quick and easy and less messy. Had no complaints to date.
If you have to find work I hope you find something nice you can enjoy, or is this just a formality.
anyway,

It was a very quick interview. I was still telling him my circumstances when he put his hand up, cancelled the application and told me to claim Carers' Allowance for looking after Mum.
This weekend my sister is staying with Mum as her hubby is going on a stag weekend (Y's hen weekend was last weekend) as luck would have it we're going out for a combined birthday celebration meal tonight with Ian's daughter Caroline & her hubby Andrew, her birthday last week, mine next week. Going to the Pear Tree which is midway between both homes so we can all have a drinkand

My scrambled eggs are cooked the same as Websailor's GB!
Hope all continues to improve for you and your family - I shall be away from tomorrow until next week-end; but will call in here when I get back.

I knew we were kindred spirits Scorp
GB, so glad your interview was cancelled, it seemed very unfair in the circumstances.
Take care,

I also cook my own scrambled eggs in the microwave, but Mum likes them cooked in a pan on the stove. She can tell the difference (I tried to get away with microwaved eggs the first time...)
Have a good time scorp!
Last night's meal was greatand it was a pleasant enough evening to walk both ways so I didn't feel guilty having the shortcake sweet

Mum is back in her own bed in her own bedroom! It's doubled my workload but a step in the right direction.

I'm off to get a birthday cake from my local bakery then take it round for some quality time with my Mum. The other day I found a letter she wrote to her parents on the day I was born. Today I'm taking the time to remember the woman who gave birth to me, and be thankful I still have her physical presence on this day.
