Well, you can try giving all the bad stuff up for Lent. I've given up smiley - choc, crisps and fizzy drinks. And I'm not going on a cruise (no, the Isle of Wight ferry does not count) Boo!

The Med, yes lilsmiley - ok

smiley - hugYou're all so kind, but I have gone up another dress size and I really want to lose the excess weight. I will be exercising every day!!smiley - puff

smiley - cupcakeI have joined a friend's FB group "Getting Fit Together" Bea, but it's more a support group and a small number to keep the chatting low rather than being a food log. My week is difficult due to Tuesdays & Thursdays I cook for me and Gordon (he likes a 3-course lunch!), Wednesday I have a carvery lunch out with my mother (with a pudding or sweet back at hers with a smiley - tea). Saturday night Gordon cooks for me and 2 students (3 courses). Mondays & Fridays will be easy as I can eat exactly what I want (1 course!), and Sunday I usually cobble meals from that week's leftovers. smiley - spork

GB, meals out are lovely but they have done for me too this winter. People seem to feel sorry for me, think I need comfort food and spoil me - it is difficult to ay No, without sounding ungrateful.

Trying to build my willpower so I need some hot weather pronto as I eat very little then smiley - biggrin

smiley - goodluck you have a good incentive at least.

Four stone? You'll need a whole new wardrobe. Difficult to keep it off while on a cruise too....

The reward of a cruise is getting to eat all you want because you trained so hard to go on it.

I wish the heat really did keep the weight off. smiley - magic

The reward for me is not having to prepare meals and do the washing-up & putting away. And no housework.

I am also looking forward to salad season as I could live on salad (so long as there's cold cuts like Yorkshire ham and Topside of beef)smiley - drool

I did not indulge on the last cruise, although I did go for seconds when the offer of "Pina Colada cake" was just too much to resist...smiley - droolsmiley - droolsmiley - drool

Did you mention Southampton?
If only there was a h2g2 researcher who worked/lived in the Southampton area you could meet up with (if you were likely to spend a little time in Southampton before/after the cruise)

Gnomon - time to move on

Corfu Town is where Prince Philip is from! And on a good day, you can kiss the 1,700-year-old corpse of Saint Spyridhon.

And someone once said that Venice is comparable only to itself. How true.
